Philosophy, the love for wiseness

Postby emzee-frenzy » May 24th, '10, 04:40

Us modern day people seem to occupy our time with al sorts of unimportant daily things. But, just laying back and opening a book of philosophy could actually give you a very pleasant feeling of anilysis, which could do you very good and open your mind to a whole different world of superior and more interresting problems, rather than "what's on tv tonight?" or anything like that. I'm curios to hear what do you folks think about this art and how does it make you feel. Right now i'm trying to understand Kant's "Critique of pure reason", maybe somebody hear has other works to discuss.

I think you should open up a science book. Much more interesting, and relevant.

Sorry for the "hear" instead of here. Well, that depends on preferences.

Wow. I wiki-ed "Critique of pure reason". LOL. Isn't it like, think first before you talk?

But yeah I can dig this:

Well, not in that way, it's about a sort of thoughts about something that take place before we experience that something. That is pure intelect. And the main question of the book is : How can these judgements that precede experience take place in reality?

For instance : 2+5 = 7.

My mind tells me that i have to put together 2 and 5, which will give me something. But i don't have any experience to tell me what would it be. So, this is a syntetic judgement, which in comprehension ends here. But, here comes the pure intelect which gives me the resolution, 7. Then, this ends up in experience, and i will know it every time, without pure reason. This is abvious with bigger numbers, ex. 773667 + 9243673 =?, i know i need a juncture, but it takes pure intelect to think it.

Yes. So you're saying, "why not 2+5=6?"
