Sound reasoning: Next time a celebrity dies...

Postby GenePeer » Jul 24th, '11, 14:27

Next time a celebrity dies for whatever reason, we shouldn't care because more people died before him/her.
Next time anyone dies (even your relatives), we shouldn't care because more people died before him/her.
Next time there's mass murder anywhere, we shouldn't care because there's been worse before.

End sarcasm. Anyway, people shouldn't care who the fuck is being talked about more. If you're going to look down on people who feeling sorry about Amy because it's "less tragic", just know there's probably someone in Somalia thinking "Just 90? 100s die here everyday" and the circle continues. There's a lot of bad shit happening on this world, so pay your respects where you want and stop worrying about what's getting more attention. People have every right to care for one death as you do to care for the other, so stop being self-righteous with this bullshit of bringing up Norway in a discussion about Amy.

I'm letting this off my chest and it isn't a response to what I've read on this forum, just what I see everywhere. Like when UN started attacking Gaddafi, some people I know were saying "Worse things are happening in Sierra Leone". It's always the same shit; people are talking about one thing, but there's always someone else who brags of how he's talking about another "worse tragedy".

Menzo wrote:Secondly, the reason why people are more sympathetic to say, the people in Oslo, is because of the circumstances. Amy Winehouse dies from depression and overdosing, yes it's a shame that she couldn't straighten her teeth, errrr, life out - but comparing THAT death to people who were murdered by a gunman...yeah, if I'm gonna offer any sympathetic values towards someone's passing, it'll be to the person who had it unfairly taken from them.

Are your sympathetic values so scarce that you have to choose who to feel sorry for? Anyway, it was never about "why people are more sympathetic to the people in Oslo". It's about why people have the urge to compare tragedies and disregard one because it's not as bad as the other. If you don't approve of what she did or if you don't give a fuck, fine say that but still no point in bringing up Norway.

You don't have to. In fact, you don't have to feel sorry for anyone who ever dies. Feeling sorry for someone's death is your right and you can exercise it however you want. That is again not the point of this thread though.

agreed but that does not mean (not directing this to you in any way ) that you can not treat everything for the some shit that you went through i mean if you are not happy with your life don't hate everyone for that at least when they die ,come what may w/e be the reason she had talent that very few posses and she died due to drugs overdose or w/e but tell me when she was alive did she do some thing against the society [not sure abt this] ,in that case man i tell ya what eminem has done some fucked up shit in his life that we as fans are not proud of so tell me if he dies would all the haterz who said shit about her death would say the same or would they praise then what would you do man tell me................

Because when it comes to celebrities, people like me who are sickened by how they're treated like gods find it the perfect opportunity to exemplify society's idiocy. If a normal drug addict died, no one would care because he/she was just a drug addict, but now that someone with media coverage died of the same causes, it's a tragedy and their life is put on optimistic steroids, fuck outta here.

You're doing nothing but showing your own idiocy when you bring up Norway :coffee:
