If you need it for animation software, Dell is the first thing that comes to mind. The grapichs are above average for laptops, and pretty powerful. If I were you, I'd take a good look at the Dell Inspiron 7000. You have a 15 inch and 17 inch to choose from, I'd go for the 15 inch, as it's cheaper and already massive enough. It comes with Windows 8.1 which has some really nice additions to the 8 and runs smoother. It runs on an i7 processor, and starts at about a 1000 bucks, so it should in the end be below your 1300 bucks. Said, the graphics shouldn't be a problem on Dell laptop.

Ya that's what i meant if you're IT, anyhow the reason i asked is because most IT people ive met in the work place always prefer a pc over a mac. They don't like Apple because a PC is much easier for them to work with but imo I think a PC runs smoother than a Mac if its kept up to date and cleaned frequently although i'd say a Mac is way easier to maintain for the average user.

Well usually yeah you're right but I HATE PC's honestly. I had the privilege of working for the journalism building at my university and they used all Macs and I got to work on them for 2 years. Easily the best machines I've worked with hands down, almost in every category.

Lenovo is a good brand. Honestly it mstter more on the internal specs. Who makes it means nothing any more. So if your stuck with a pc, go with whateber feels comfortable and something you luke the look of.
