i seen a post about this awhile ago, only had 1 story about it but as of last night, i have had sleep paralysis twice in 3 years

so today when i got home i looked up what sleep paralysis is all about, learned alot fromwhat i read

the 1st time it occured to me, i was home alone, sleeping on the couch, suddenly i woke up, looking directly in the face of my friend, very odd thing is that friend was dead for 5 years by then, and for some reason, my friend had his hand on my chest telling me not to move, at that point i tried jumping up but no part of my body could move at all, i even tried yelling for help but it was like my mouth was super glued shut, all i could do was make mumbling sounds, this went on for about 20 seconds, i closed my eyes, when i opened again i was able to move, the rest of the night i searched the entire house for the person, i couldn't get back to sleep.

Last night, i'm at a friends house, i woke up looking at a person sitting in the chair accross from me, they were just starring at me, looked very demon like, the chair looked like it was rocking, again, i could not move, could not yell, my heart was going full fuckin speed, very creepy.

Anybody else have this shit happen?

i don't do drugs, i used to pop pills but it got stupid and i have a life to live, it's said that sleep paralysis can be caused by stress, and right before going to sleep i was thinkin about my past and some things i wish i would have done, mainly when it came to fights, i'm always thinkin about what if i did it this way, or what if i didn't do this and instead did that,

Sleep Paralysis is triggered by events that would cause you to wake up, but they are not strong enough? I don't know if that makes sence... but its a rapid waking of the mind while the body is still asleep.

so in this stage, the Amygdala (the body's fear centre, located in the inferior centre of the brain) acts weirder. And associates the fear of Paralysis with Evil. so people will "see" demons, or things that they believe have evil connections. but at the end of the day is just a 20-40 second lasting event during sleep time. so yes, they are 100% allucinations.

And it is scientifically proven that this allucinations are of humanoid forms, so thats why you associate them with scary supernatural things like dead friends looking at you; some people dream its aliens, and some people dream its demons. But never worry.

what you have to do when facing sleep paralysis is remember, beacuse your brain is awake, so you have your brains functions, its just the body that doesnt move. so remember that you are in that state and it can even be fun lmao... but yeah. its nothing supernatural.

same here Menzo, my dad said he had it and it felt like someone was holding him down and he saw a dude walking in front of his bed. My friend said he yelled at his sister to stop singing in the hallway. When he woke up, he remembered that she was away at college. I'm terrified of this happening to me.

Got it a couple of times. Sometimes there are no hallucinations and it's just the fact you can't move that brings the fear; the intensity of the experience is always the same for me, ghost or no ghost.

I Learnt how to controll it and know exactly when it happens. It was happening to me this morning, And I could understand the process of exactly how it happens. It always happens after like the second or third time you wake up and are trying to fall back asleep, but your mind is already thinking like on waking up and starting the day. It was good... but the fear process starts before, when you can still move. I started hearing some bells, but like really fucking loud and then when the body paralyses you feel like someone grabs you, and I saw what was starting to be the formation of something but before anything went stronger I remembered, and stopped it beacuse like I said on a post above, your mind is perfectly concious at this stage so you can send a signal to your brain to start body movement, it takes more time (1or 2 seconds longer) than normal movement but then it all stops and you wake the fuck up.

and you can notice that the fear is there, cuz you are awaken but you still fear the fear of something. abstract fear beacuse the amygdala is still active. But its all good now.

no but i dream about the shit thats on tv, last night i fell asleep with the tv on and suddenly i was part of south park in my dream, and this morning my dream was voiced by some people in some movie on comedy central, it was funny shit
