The nucleus accumbens, which plays an important role in reward, pleasure, laughter, addiction, aggression, fear, and placebo effects, is most likely the cause of this psychological phenomena. I think that the sexual arousal, that is generated in the pleasure center of the brain, crosses paths with the placebo effects section in the nucleus accumbens. Since both brain halves have such a nucleus accumbens, I think that the dopamine levels get processed by different sections in that pleasure center of the brain, thus giving the person in question a placebo effect; where he/she is aware of, ergo the person asks for something he is already getting.
PS: I think that this belongs in the Serious Debate section.
