I am definitely verbose (for better or worse) but I am not a Stan.
To call a fan a Stan takes away any weight from its meaning, if it has any, in any context.
- I have listened to all of Eminem's music.
- I listen to his music probably... once every few days now (as it's so overplayed).
- I keep up to date on his MUSIC.
You see, all of my interest towards Eminem is for his music, and towards him as an artist. I am interested in Eminem the artist, the man who writes those lyrics, the art he creates. I am not interested in Marshall Mathers. I couldn't care less about his personal life or personal updates. I also don't dress like him, I talk nothing like him and I don't try and act like or imitate him. So I am not a Stan.
You can't call somebody who is just a fan of his music a Stan. Well you can, but in my opinion you'd be wrong. That's not a Stan. If it is, then I'm also a Stan of Canibus, Nas, Mos Def, many other hip-hop artists AND many other comedians, authors and intellectuals who I follow actually much more closely than I do Eminem.
Listening to Eminem's music does not = Stan.
Dissecting his lyrics does not = Stan.
Knowing every lyric to every Eminem song does not = Stan.
Now, I only post in the Eminem section because this is an Eminem forum. This forum is mostly comprised of young teens or Eminem fans, and so... I discuss other things (outside of Eminem) OTHER places. An Eminem forum is not the best place to discuss religion, or politics or more general issues or get the best, most stimulating debates.
Plus, I've had enough of endless debates on those topics anyway. I have those debates amongst friends in real life but can't be bothered wasting time on a forum going back and forth for days over them. You get nowhere and it's not the right environment for it, in my opinion. It's just a massive waste of time. So that is why I only post in the Eminem forum. Not because I'm a Stan.
You can however check my history and see my posts in the Serious Debate section and see my old posts on 9/11 and religion and see I was 10x as verbose as I was on Eminem. So this suggestion that I am only verbose or over-analytical because it's about Eminem is not true. That's just the kind of person I am about anything, I could write this much about a fucking rock. Not saying it would be worth anything but I just naturally type a lot and am ridiculously over the top, long-winded and obsessive.
