We live

31)Appeal to Force- When somebody threatens the opposition by punishment if they don't don't comply.

Example

If you don't stop bashing Eminem, I'm going to ban you

Here the person relies on trying to scare the opposition, by threatening with a ban rather than refuting the opposition's argument. Also a form of appeal to emotion.

32)Poisoning the well- similar to ad hominem and appeal to motive, only when the person tries to slande the person's rep therefore discredting their argument.

Example

He's known to frequently bash Eminem and his music, therefore we shouldn't take his opinion into consideration on the matter.

Whether or not this is true this has nothing to do with the argument at hand and is just disingenuous.

33)Destroying the Exception -When somebody uses a rule to a situation that doesn't normally apply or is an exception to that rule, similar to proof by example.

Example

Ghostface is a stream of consciousness rapper, and raps about incoherent babble, therefore you shouldn't listen to him.

This person is forgetting that this was Ghostface's signature style in Supreme Clientele is where he used his stream of consciousness raps excessively, outside of Supreme Clientele, he rarely does that. (It's a literary technique btw)

34)Reverse fallacy of accident- Pretty much the opposite of the previous fallacy, when somebody uses an exception to overturn established truths.

Example

Nicki Minaj is a terrible rapper, so all rappers from Queens are also terrible rappers who specialize in Young Money Punchlines.

This ignores the heaploads of other great rappers that were birthed from Queens, and in no way have a similar rapping style to Nicki Minaj.

35)Tu Quoque- aka appeal to hypocrisy, basically trying to validify your argument by claiming that the opposition actively engages in the same practice, thefore making it right.

Example

You dismiss evidence all the time and simply call my favorite rappers pretentious, so I'm just returning the favor.

Even if the person did commit said actions that doesn't make the other person who's currently dismissing evidence and being a brick wall right.

36)Loaded Question- When the question being asked presupposes the conclusion, even if the opposition answers with a yes or no, they still fall to the agenda of the person who asked the question. Basically simply answering yes or no, is pretty much a dead end.

Example

Does your mother know you're gay

Even if the person answes no, they pretty much confirm that they are gay, just that they're still in the closet, and answering is pretty stupid. Like I said simply answering yes or no, is a dead end.

37)Fallacy of Composition- When somebody tries to claim that because certain conditions are true for X, than it must also be true for larger sets X is a part of.

Example

Eminem can outshine any rapper from the Boston, therefore he can outshine any rapper in the East Coast.

This is ignoring the fact that there aren't that many impressive rappers from Boston, and ignoring the buttloads of other rappers who are impressive from NY, which is the heart of East Coast Hip Hop.

38)Fallacy of Division- The opposite of the previous fallacy and is when somebody claims that since a system has certain functions than all subsets of that system has this function.

Example

The Wu tang created a classic and perhaps the best Hip Hop album off all time, U God is a part of the Wu, therefore he can create a classic easily.

This is ignoring the key fact that Enter The WU was great because off all the members chipping in giving life to the album through their own idiosyncracies, Ghostface's Energy, Method Man's persona, Gza's intellectual lyrics, OBD's craziness. Not one Wu member dominated the album and made it a classic singlehandedly (well maybe RZA).

39)Argumentem Ad Verbosium- When somebody tries to win a debate through long winded drivel that has no central point and adds nothing to the discussion other than wearing out the opposition in a war of attrition.

Example

The OP is a very good examplehere

Do I really have to explain?

40)Figure of speech-When somebody tries to take a known phrase literally and use it as evidence.

Example

MBDTF was praised by the masses and recieved nmerous accolades and took the nation by storm, therefore it was the best album of 2010.

Took the nation by storm is very vague and has no evidence nor real meaning to it than unless proved is merely the person talking out of their ass.
