Either you're bored with the genre or you were just listening to it for all the wrong reasons (counting how many syllables someone can fit in a verse, looking for extranous punchlines etc) and treated it like a math equation rather than music.

I can kinda empathize as I'm enjoying hell of a lot of rock bands like The Ramones who tend to employ the less is more concept with strict minimalism. I'm also enjoying a ton of old school simple rap which isn't overtly complex but still a blast to listen too, songs from the like of De La Soul, Gang Starr, and The Jungle Brothers are just music.

Here have a taste

Btw, I'm not bashing newer rap as I love it just the notion of overtly complex music being good because it's complex.

It's not rap getting boring necessarily, it's just you getting bored with confining yourself to one genre. Look at Revolutionary (my *****) for example, dude is a huge hip hop fan, but lately he's been wanting to check out some other stuff. Happens to all of us.

I wonder how people like DA! never get bored though, that motherfucker never listens to anything that isn't rap.

Dude, it's DA! (my nigga doe) we'll never be able to figure him out.

Well at least you don't listen to the genre in a backwards ass manner, like only paying attention to bland technical efficiency while completely the creativity of the artists.

I'm not sure what you meant by that old shit, but just to be safe I hope you're not speaking in sweeping platitudes towards underground as a whole, but mean artists like Paz, Copywrite etc (sorry class). Cause there are some underground artists that try new things without completely failing such as Mf Doom, Edan, Quasimoto (Madlib), Declaime, etc. Hell even Black Milk none of these are syllable spouting whores that make it the forefront of their music.

And while I'm not a fan of Lil B and Drake I can empathize with you liking the artists you do as they tend to be easy on the ears when you take long breaks from rap. I can't imagine going months without rap and jumping straight into an Elzhi album.

I dunno if rap itself is to blame or what, but I am pretty much the same. Don't get me wrong i'm as passionate as ever about actually rapping myself (and some of the artists on here as well keep my faith alive in it) but lately I just haven't heard many rap songs I particularly enjoy. The two most dominant forces are Watch The Throne and Carter 4, and both of those are pointless and tedious. I of course have just been listening to other music on repeat and it is probably not healthy. But at least it beats listening to people I genuinely don't particularly like brag about their success and how much money they have. Now that sounds like something uneducated haters of rap say, but thanks to these faggots it's becoming the reality.

What'd you think of Mylo Xyloto? I thought Hurts Like Heaven, Charlie Brown, & Major Minor are the best songs ever created by Coldplay but it was overall their worst album. Whacha think?

The genre's perfectly fine, I think it's just most of us are broadening our horizons or are discovering new music which is great. It's not exactly pleasant to listen to strictly Hip Hop and it's great seeing things without tunnel vision. Such as, "Rap| Everything else". Btw there's nothing innately wrong with bragging so long as it's done with tact, that's the very bread and butter of Hip Hop. I'm not going to pretend I'm some angel that only listens to virtuous music, while trun around listen to other genres of music that talk about the same exact things that rap does. I could give less of a shit about whether or not they're dropping insight or rapping about how much pussy they get so long as they have interesting delivery skills and good beats.
