That's a gnarly fucking spider. Gotta get the anti-venom administered quickly, otherwise you can be dead within 10 minutes.

Fuck that shit, I think we have Black Widows and Hobo Spiders where I am, but those aren't nearly that bad.

Really?
I'm surprised you have Black Widows that far north. I've heard of Hobo Spiders (similar to the Brown Recluse?) in the Pacific Northwest, but I'm not too familiar with them. The Black Widow is incredibly venomous, but it just doesn't administer much venom per bite, which is good since it's a neurotoxin. The Recluse (and similar spiders) are bad because of the necrosis associated with the bite.
And fuck that mega-spider that Hage posted.
Well yeah, it depends on the spider.Revolutionary wrote:I have actually never been terrified of bugs or shit like that. I mean sure, you get shocked for a bit but then realize you can deal with it just fine.
But I never kill them with my bare hands, I gotta have some gloves on or a flip flop to smack 'em.
I got this phobia that if I kill them with my bare hands I might get infected or something, lol

The Black Widow is sort of scary for people because it's a neurotoxic venom. The thought of being bit by a spider, and then having trouble breathing and having widespread pain...ugh, fuck that. Same with the Recluse bites, the idea that necrosis can occur as a result of the bite.
And with the Recluse particularly, they tend to be found in homes and places that people regularly come into contact with them. At least the Black Widow has the common fucking decency for the most part to stay out of your house. The problem with the Recluse (and wolf spiders) is that they're more likely to come into contact with you without you knowing it, and have a tendency to be fairly aggressive.
