Haven't gone through the thread but here's a thought or two. I think that we can mind-fuck ourselves and "invent" a reality which is kinda perfect and better than what you get in real life and just the thought of that actually becoming real can project a source for absolute happiness.

Like, you see a girl and let's say her looks click with you and you instantly feel attraction different than what you get with most girls that pass you by (regardless of how hot they are). Then, she shows a sign or two of possessing qualities that your dream girls has; and everyone has an idea of a dream girl, but deep down you know that's not out there so it's sex, sex, sex. However, even deeper inside you have this hope that that girl actually does exist so if you meet "her", your brain goes - "oh yeah I knew that there's a girl like that, told you so motherfucker".

Then you become a little excited bitch because having that girl would mean that you would be more happy than you can be on a day-to-day basis, and that somehow that happiness would be "true" and like a dream fulfillment. Compare it with your dream job or success with a hobby, or just with the vision that you have of where you would like to be at life, and it's like you get pleased and thankful for what you have, because some people have it worse, though then again you realize the potential of having that absolute happiness and how it would be like.

This comes down to having enormous expectations and it's a double-edged sword. If you get the girl (the job, the hobby success) you get amazing feelings and everything is perfect in the world, but if you don't everything is shit. Of course, you can't feel like shit all the time and you gotta accept things and move on, but those visions are always buried somewhere inside.

To make my point, if you're at a low place and disappointed girls may look evil or whatever, and if you're at a better place then things are good. In other words, it comes down to different perceptions and not actual reality or facts.
