Well for beats I'm using Reason. It's expensive as hell and my parents got it for me so I'm putting it to use. It's just hard to get time to really learn it as of now.

reason is homo, i've used it and i never liked it.. plus once i can aafford it, i'm setting up Pro Tools that's the industry standard, i've been using shit like adobe audition and fl studio while everyone else uses pro tools and cubase

Naw Reason is the fuckin shit. DJ Toomp who's made a ton of hits like What You Know and a bunch of others uses it. Pro Tools is the only thing comparable. It's the standard now, but if you research it you'll see that Reason 4.0 is quickly becoming another favorite.

true true, but i hate fl studio, i mean i love it for its simplicity but it's like so hard to be creative with it, cause it's put out to be done a certain way and there's isn't a lot of flexiblity with it, i mean it's great and u can make great beats, but i prefer to have complete freedom but i dont have the patience to learn reason when i'ma end up moving to pro tools.

Yeah when it comes to production you can't get better than Reason 4 and Pro Tools. You just can't. I really lucked out with Reason and I found this site some guy made that has dozens on top of dozens of tutorials for it. It's sick.

hahaha warbeats.com has the same thing for fl studio...

the problem i see with fl studio is it's like a wide receiver using gloves, it makes everything easier but ur dependent on the gloves, so really you might not really know how to catch the ball well... ya know?

Yeah I get what you mean. FL Studio is awesome for just getting started, but shit like reason and pro are just awesome. And they'll pretty much meet you wherever you are with your experience level.
