I think that's a possibility. It does speak to its influence in hip-hop though too, if that does happen.

doubt it.

the first albums "to do it" are often those people remember the most. theres a few new concept albums influenced by gkmc (MKL) and the album is still one of the most praised albums right now

Dunno about that disposable arts and prince among thieves are highly overlooked. My favorite type of concept albums are loose ones with a general idea but doesn't go apeshit with it or let the concept dictate the flow of the album. Like Deltron 3030

It's hard to say right now though, because it hasn't even been two years since GKMC was released. It is too early to say, in my opinion. I think it will definitely be incredibly influential, but we can't speak to how it will age yet.

Outkast's albums, Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt and all that shit still sound dope as fuck because you hear a lot of them in Today's artists...

A lot of rappers from New York are trying to sond like jay-z, you can hear Outkast in Kendrick's music, you can hear kanye west in J. Cole or Drake's music, YG's new album is heavily influenced by Doggystyle/Chronic... it's sad but very few rappers are trying to imitate his sound/music

If anything would that make it sound more unique and aged better since no one can properly duplicate it

it's the other way around. All the outdated albums have one thing in common: the lack of influence.

Oh and yeah goin off that whole concept schtick it's kinda why I find Section 80 replayable even though GKMC is probably the better album.

@ rattle that doesn't make sense tho why does it sound aged if nothing can sound like it. It'll be unique and just seem foreign, whereas albums that influence others have a high chance of getting certain things done better by newer albums (even if the newer albums in general don't stack up to the influence of the older ones)

So MMLP and Eminem's best works can't be considered GOAT because they are hard to emulate?

Sounds legit. :y:

what if people don't try to emulate that sound because they simply don't like it ?

there's a difference between saying your influenced and easily tracing that influence in a certain artist. Like how you could easily tell Kdot studied Outkast's albums and even has a little bit of lil wayne in him. It's kinda like hate to brin this up, but how TVU's influences are easily traceable on a shit ton of bands even tho they aren't the most influential band out there. As opposed to bands more influential than them.

it's all politics... kendrick never talked about eminem before signing to aftermath, artists barely mention eminem as an influence when they they aren't questioned about him.

you can't hear eminem's music in kendrick's music, at least not in his albums. tbh wayne influenced way more artists than him

You can be influenced by an artist without directly sounding similar to them too. It's kind of hard to explain what I mean, but trust me, it makes sense in my head.

What influence has Eminem had on Rap? Em is one of my favorite mcees but he will never be considered as an influential rapper and this is what hurts his legacy the most.

What influence has Eminem had on Rap? Sells don't determine influence.... He never created a style or skill most people try to follow, nobody is rapping, talking like or making music like him.

@fifflaren, like others have said you dont have to hear a direct correlation to know certain rappers were influenced by him.

Anyway he influenced the culture, he brought so many people into the genre, he influenced it just being one of the best to touch the mic. You dont have to create something new in order to be influential, you just have to be really damn good at whatever it is you do, and have a damn good presence about you. He had a huge impact on music, which is why hes still rapping his ass off and still selling more than every other rapper.

All you can do it handle it, worst thing you can do is panic
Use it to your advantage, avoid insanity manage
To conquer, every obstacle, make impossible possible
Even when winning illogical, losing is still far from optional.." -T.I.

He will always be considered and remembered as one of the greatest artists of these times, any genre.

I don't think anyone's disputing that. Only a retard would, it's like saying Bowie isn't one of the greatest cause of all the bullshit he dropped in the 90s.
