time is a measurement of the events that take place within it. and it is speeding up exponentially until we reach the omega point - the singularity. the amount of events that take place within the universe in one hour today, is an inconceivably larger amount of events than that which took place, in the same window of time, 50 billion years ago. the universe is constantly building on top of itself, adding levels of complexity, black holes --> stars --> planets --> gravitated water --> life --> consciousness --> technology --> immortality --> singularity. it's as if the universe is in this mad rush, desperately attempting to be able to see itself in a mirror, and it does this through nature. at least that's my theory, the fuck do i know.

Without change, literally no event could take place on any scale. So I suppose we could exist if everything in the entire universe was frozen completely still. But then we couldn't know we existed anyway, which would be worthless. What is the universe with nothing to observe it?
