14 December 2012 (An Unexpected Journey)

"The Hobbit" follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.
Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever ... Gollum.
Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum's "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities ... A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

The Hobbit is gonna be incredible, I usually don't go to the cinemas/theater to watch movies but I will for this.
I also used to emulate Gollum's voice very well as a kid, not so much now :(

It's going to be shot in 4k resolution @ 48FPS which is incredible. Such a shame the majority of cinemas can't even play it. No doubt 24 FPS will be the standard for a long time to come.

Ooh, you have it worse than me. :console:

I'm seeing it in IMAX though, so I get the 9 min preview of Star Trek, too. Kinda makes up for seeing it late.

The world premier is going to be on tomorrow evening in Wellington. It's going to be quite a big night.

$6.50 jugs at the pub next door for 20 minutes.

And I cannot fucking wait.

Most likely not,shame.

Avatar was the first big 3D movie so that boosted its sales pretty much.. No wonder.. it's visually pretty mind-blowing.

1st Hobbit might break the 1st weekend box officer records.. We'll see in few weeks :y:
