That depends on the carrier and Samsung.....its nothing to do with Android that's the thing...if you want a phone with updates right away you must go with a Nexus device because that's the true Android experience.
The S3 is an older phone and may not have the requirements to have the latest OS on the phone, i have the S4 and my phone is not rooted and i have the latest update on my phone.
I get what you're saying, but do you get what I'm saying too? I understand that there are ways around it.. but you have to admit its strange that they don't just... offer an OS upgrade. It would be so simple. Yes it it would work differently based on what device you have, but still. It's the same with iPhone... iOS7 looks different on an iPhone4 than it does on an iPhone5. However... at least we have the option.
