So how do you advise getting started? I know I won't be comfortable right off of the back. I can think of material but being so unexperienced I don't know how to structure it yet or use it properly. I can't really be Dane Cook and make bullshit funny off the back lol.

I've tried. It's fucking hard unless you've got a particular style which you can work around. I didn't have that so my set was all over the place, even though I had a few good jokes.

If you have a style (e.g. observationist, shock comedy, one liners etc) then just write down a lot of material then think of links between jokes to structure it. I knwo you write or used to write storytelling raps so storytelling comedy might be a good path to go down.

This is quite helpful in finding yourself a style - http://www.ehow.com/how_4450634_find-st ... style.html

I'm glad you posted this, I might try writing some stuff again.

Every comic has a particular style of humour, i'd say write down some, use the best as fallbacks cos every comic has repeated a joke like a failsafe. Once you got enough you can structure your set to link it up though i don't know fuck all

I would write 10 minutes (about 5-10 different topics, depending on how you execute your jokes/stories). Then, just think about the funniest situations/jokes associated with your 10 minutes worth of topics. Add impressions (I do.. I do Cleveland from Family Guy, Kermit The Frog, Elmo, Scooby Doo & Shaggy, Characters from King Of The Hill, Pillsbury Dough Boy, Yoda and a few others... Also, I have my own characters: Eddy The Tard, The Gay Guy, Indian accents, chinese accents). I usualy improvise with accents to make punchlines funnier...

It takes practice.. Perform them for your parents/family first, cause they're more likely to build your confidence up.

Lmao!

You got anything on video? Btw you should post your jokes man.
