just a bad line

I disagree lol. I think if you think it's a bad ending to the verse then you're missing the point of why he's saying it.

The use of 'lettuce' and 'olives' at the end is to continue the vegtable-related terminology and play off of cliche'. Be unique.

It would of been a bad line if he had just said the cabbage as it would be regular. But with that addition he's being unique. Highlighting the fact he's aware of the cliche' and playing with it.

btw, do you rap?

:b:

Nah I don't. I'm from South Wales in the UK. Some accents just don't sound right rapping you know. If I wanted to do it I'd have to edge more towards Grime which I don't like as much and I think is best left for London anyway.

Plus I'm not really interested in doing it anyway. I used to be as a kid but I have many other ambitions now much more tailored towards my personality. I've made some joke songs and I find it extremely easy to rhyme and write well when I'm in-character but very hard when as 'me'.

Expressing your true identity through the art is the hardest part. Like I've been doing card... Well, did for a while do card magic for about 5 years straight. Officially started it about... 8 years ago though and I became very skilful technically and pretty much near a pro-level but just could never really manage to present it as myself, with my own naturalism etc.

So yeah anyway. Gave up the little rap dream a long time ago lol. Not that it ever really was much of a dream, I've realized that in fact what I really love is writing as a whole. So amongst my broader business ambitions I'm currently partially playing with, I plan to be an author too.

LMAO again with the fucking stupidly long reply. I don't even intend to do it. Started out writing a short straight-forward answer to your question and I can't help but expand constantly. Pain in the ass.

Well it's not that large really. Compared to the average person my age or just in general maybe it's a bit more but it's all relative. Because there's people with even larger vocabs than me who are just way way beyond.

But I've built it naturally just... I don't know. I've always had a natural brain for English so maybe I'm slightly more of that nature anyway. Because I fucked around through my entire time in school, paid no attention but all my English teachers used to think I was so naturally good at it. Just all wishing I'd stop dicking about haha.

So I think it often has to do in partial, as always, with your genetics. Because I often say words, as I always have which... For some reason I just know and I shouldn't, they feel beyond me lmao. Then I look it up and it's a real word and I don't know how I knew it. I mean obviously we all do this to a certain degree, picking up words subconsciously etc.

Outside of that though - I've expanded it the most in the past few years especially. I ran an Internet marketing blog for a while and used to write HUGE articles for it constantly. So I made a lot of headway whilst doing that too.

Oh and finally I'd say it has to do with my heroes. Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Ricky Gervais, Derren Brown - I don't read hardly at all - I've read maybe... Three books ever. I can't hold my attention on one line long enough. But all of my heroes (especially these mentioned) are intellectuals. All of them range from above-average to extremely proficient vocabulary talents. So I also pick up a lot no doubt from these guys or at least, have done so far.

That's the most effective way to learn, when it's appealing to you. That's probably why I naturally pick so much up because it doesn't feel like an effort, I study my heroes for fun, the rest follows. Em has of course taught me quite a bit too. I've naturally become more enriched about irony, character-play and many other finite techniques to writing thanks to his genius.

What do I admire about him?, wow where to start.

Okay well I've been doing magic since about 11. Card magic mainly but studying all aspects and Derren Brown is by far one of THE most naturalistic, INCREDIBLE performers in history.

If you think he's self-obsessed then you don't know him very well. It's like saying Eminem is homeophobic.

Derren Brown is one of the most innovative minds in modern art in the last 100 years. Firstly he's prolitic, his workrate is outstanding, in less than a decade the ground he's covered is immense.

His innovation within magic is astounding. He's pushed the boundries of psychology, he blends so many elements from every corner of the artform, adds new dimensions to it and makes it seem so effortless and natural.

Until Derren, most public magicians were either incredibly cheesy or incredibly smug and twattish Ie. David Blane - Limited, less than average technical magician with an AWFUL performance style.

Derren however is so unbelievably natural. He makes everything he does seem clinical and adds an air of science to what he does as if he's a mastermind narrator carrying out experiments for the entertainment of himself and his audience.

HIs misdirection and manipulation is at such a masterful level and he blends it so brilliantly well with his own sense of humour, own rhythm, own pace etc. This is easily the hardest element of magic. Performing naturally and injecting your own personality and rhythm whilst still controlling the spectator and remaining technically efficient.

He's also done a wonderful job at exposing bullshit. Namely mediumship (pretending to talk to dead people). He exposes these fields of nonsense whilst at the same time... Faking it better than any of them himself, making an entire performance piece and somewhat acadmeic study out of it AND remaining genuine on the face of it.

If you think he's smug then you must just glance across his public image or catch clips here and there and not really know the guy.

He's totally self-deprecating. His first two books on magic are amazing and his third for the public is extremely good too. Aside from being a superb magic-mind, writer, performer, technician and public intellectual he's also a prolific artist.

You can check out his paintings: Here.

As an example, here's one of Em he did:

Anybody in the field of magic knows how incredible he is. He's pushed every aspect of it to the outer-limits and continues to try with endless new avenues. His ambition is so admirable. And if you ever see him live you'll have a whole new World of appreciation. So sharp, so far-ahead.

I honestly never know how to respond to your damn posts!

But your right, I suppose I'm basing it on what I see of him - which honestly isnt a lot. But that lottery thing pissed me off with how stupid it was and got everyone talking. But I guess thats his aim.

Mods, I'm sorry, I wanted to get that comment in. I'll shut up now. :y:
