This is one of my favorite tracks from "Recovery". I love the metaphor he used to describe his relationship with music.

Yeah, I had a hard time thinkin he was actually talkin about MTV in the song...But I think he was. I mean, MTV probably means a lot to him. I mean, it was MTV that kinda shined the spotlight on him when he was coming up. All the interviews. All the airplay. Even EMtv. I mean, MTV was a major part of his come up. And tbh, it probably was the main reason he got so famous to begin with.

All that said, Im fairly possitive that he was talkin about MTV in the song. It would be just too big of a coincidence for him to mention a list and not being on it, right after that MTV list came out.

Also keep in mind, from the till I collapse song, he mentions how he isnt widely liked by "thats why when im not put on this mix this shit does not offend me"....So I dont think he's talkin about hip hop in general because he already knows he's bein hated on already.

I think he feels like he has bled hip hop for most of his life, and MTV, a major part of his career, didnt even mention him on that list so he just incorperated it into the song. At first I was like, nah, he cant look at MTV like they ARE hip hop....I think it was just being seperated from what this major part of his career considered to be the best in hip hop. So it was, like the OP said? a dig at MTV.

And I think once the CD comes out, and he starts doing interviews about the CD he will touch base on a lot of the lyrics. A lot of questions will be answered after the CD comes out. He probably doesnt want to get into depth about the lyrics of his songs before the CD comes out to prevent people from going out and pirating it.

It's been a lot of rappers to talk about hip hop like she's a woman. Common, Slaughterhouse, Nas, and others.

Even Luda did it. Em's is one of the best becuz u think it's about Kim and he switches it up on u

I also wish Khalil put a lil more effort into the beat. The chorus was great, but the beat could've been a lot better. That's one of those songs where people complain his flow is choppy. That's becuz the beat is choppy :angry:
