Justin Bieber is the hot topic of the times and the connection for existing artist to reach a younger fan base. Kanye West and Raekin have confirmed intent to collaborate with Justin Bieber via Twitter. Considering the long list of successful collaborative works already under the young singer’s belt an Eminem co-op would create something, which both popular entertainers would benefit. Choosing which song, a remix of a released track or a new track will largely determine if the two can successfully mesh their styles in a single song.
Justin Bieber began posting videos of him performing on YouTube and caught the attention of Scooter Braun. A few calls later, the fifteen-year-old Bieber found he was auditioning before one of the artists he had covered, Usher. Impressed, Usher and Def Jam quickly signed Justin Bieber to a recording contract. (-Matt Collar/Andrew Leahey/ Rovi) This introduction through R&B pop, rather then the typical “bubble gum” Pop music has given Justin Bieber an edge in the industry. Having already Collaborated with Usher (Someone to Love-remix), Jaden Smith (Never say Never), Sean Kingston (Eenie Meenie), Jessica Jarrell (Overboard) and Ludacris (Baby), an Eminem/Bieber release may not be far behind.
Rumors sparked when the Justin Bieber met Eminem for a photo opportunity, fans both for and against collaboration have been tearing up the web. Eminem fans would likely see it as a break from Eminem’s street smart, tough as nails image propagated through his lyrics and music. Even though, the “Players Club” unofficial president, Usher, has given Bieber the nod with several collaborations. If a title does release from the two, it is more likely to increase the fan base of the harder styled Eminem, then to add to the legions of “Beiber-ites.”
A Justin Bieber song featuring Eminem is an unlikely combination for a live recording with both artists at the same time and more aptly to be a remix. It is nearly a lock that one of Bieber collaborations will be performed at the next music awards, but which one will it be? Moreover, who will be the co-star, Eminem, Usher, Ludacris or Kanye? In the age of instant communication and social networking, the fans could influence the decision with their own voice. It is up to the fans that are buying the Albums, and paying to download the singles to make their voice heard, Do the want Bieber and Usher, Bieber and Eminem, Bieber and Bieber. At this point Justin Bieber has not responded to inquiries (via MySpace, twitter) about Eminem collaboration, yet if he decides to do it, it may be for personal reasons that have nothing to do with performing. Eminem is an icon of this generation of music.
