Of course it matters, a different mind state produces different music.

It produces different content, sure. But it doesn't necessarily produce different flow/voice/rhyme patterns (or lack thereof).

Eminem could cry into the microphone for 4 minutes over a beat, not even saying any words... just sobbing. And they'd rate the song 10/10. "Soooooo emotional!!!! "

Not to say the song wasn't incredibly sad, though. But ever consider that Eminem didn't release it for a reason?

Of course there was reason behind his decision not to release the song. It's very personal--I never said otherwise.

And it actually can produce different flow/voice/rhyme patterns. He's drunk/high on this track which makes him sound different. He sounds more sad than he does on Mockingbird, as Mockingbird wasn't recorded right after--to use the Christmas story as example--he couldn't afford to give his daughters and presents and sat up crying all night, whereas Difficult seems to have been recorded in the midst of his depression about Proof's passing. One is written by Eminem looking back, and one is written by Eminem in the moment.
