I don't like Alex Da kid, but considering thet INAD was leaked months before the official release, the sales are good.

He said a year ago that it is difficult to get beats on an Eminem album because he is so close with Dr. Dre but things have changed since then. Although most producers would love to get beats on his album strictly because of his fame, I think Pete Rock is a genuin fan of Em's work. I remember he praised the fuck out of his verses on Renegade in the very same interview.

What happened to 45 king? Pete Rock has the same soulful sound as the Stan beat so it would be great if they tried to capture that magic again.

I'm not buying all this "he only chooses beats with mass appeal". Honestly, there is a lot of beats on Recovery with zero hit potential, and even beats from a producer that is a totally no-name. Well, I still don't know who he is (the guy who produced WTP).

Fuck it... I can't load the interview. When I started writing this incoherent nonsense I actually thought they wouldn't be great together but after reminding myself of Stan, I'm actually pissed he has refused to work him so far.

If the new Em is so crap, why people like Pete Rock wanna work with him?
It seems that many dope guys would like to collaborate with Eminem...

Although Pete Rock is a great beatmaker, I don't think he is contemporary. Not that that's particularly a bad thing because his beats have a lot more soul than stuff made by the likes of Alex Da Kid or Boi1da... that style is just something that was cool in the early 90's but not so exciting in 2011. It's very boom-bap and I could see '99 Em maybe spitting over a Pete Rock beat but in my opinion, production has evolved a lot more since the likes of Preemo and Pete Rock were on top. Someone like Just Blaze would be an example of that... he still finds dope samples but he tends to add a lot more to them and stay relevant with the times. Hip-hop isn't necesarily the soulful genre that it once was and Pete Rock's stuff has stayed in the 90's, in my opinion...

Pete Rock's beats on Edo G's My Own Worst Enemy are absolutey insane.

Still waiting for an Em/Premo track as well - Em would work perfectly on a Premo beat - especially with Premo's focus on drums.
