R&B diva Syleena Johnson on Eminem MMLP

Postby babyjane » Nov 16th, '11, 17:15

SOHH is featuring entertainment personalities each day this week naming their most favorite debut LP follow-up and seeing if it survived the often-discussed "sophomore jinx"....R&B diva Syleena Johnson rolls with Eminem's Marshall Mathers LP:

If I had to choose a favorite sophomore album, I would say Eminem's second album was my favorite of his. The Marshall Mathers LP was off the chain.

It'd almost be a tie between that and Lil Kim's second album. I pick Eminem's because it's the one that has his song "Stan" on there. Eminem is one of my favorite rappers of all time.

He's one of the coldest rappers. EVER. It's not just because he's white and he's commercial. He's absolutely one of the coldest emcees that I ever heard. A lot of people like to get into the deep and conscious rappers. Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Nas, Jay-Z might get real deep on you, and that's my boy, I like Jay-Z, but Eminem? He can do all of those elements and he can entertain you at the same time. He can be fun, funny, deep, he's cold. He can do all of those things.

When you listen to the album, you have to remember that Eminem doesn't have to talk about killing, raping, b*tches and h*es to get his point across. He can talk about real life things that people can really relate to.

And I thought it was crazy how he used that crazy fan song, "Stan." I think that he's clever and he talks about relatable things. I know he wants to throw his wife in the car all the time, but that's his personal life and what it means to him.

He's not rapping about bling and girls and stuff like that. Everybody does stuff like that. He can really tell a story. I love me some Eminem.

It's good to see Music personality like her saying some thing good about Eminem. Indeed "MMLP" has been the long Favorite Album of great music personalities from a long time and it deserves the props. This Album justifies the statement "Lead By Example" & it's cool that people see this as an inspiration after so many years.
