Regarding 2pac and Eminem Singles which were similar

Postby Aftermathers » Apr 3rd, '12, 21:04

Comparing Singles they released that were similar type of Songs such as Dear Mama, Brendas Got A Baby, Changes, Keep Ya Head Up, Mockingbird, Sing For The Moment, Lose Yourself, Not Afraid, Mosh, Cleaning Out My Closet, Like Toy Soldiers.

2pac's Singles like that reached a lot lower in the Chart than Eminem Singles of that nature most of Em's reached the top 5-10 on the Billboard Chart while 2pac's didn't make the top 10 his most succesful Single ever was California Love which reached number 1 on the Chart where as Eminem's most succesful Singles ever are Not Afraid and Lose Yourself which reached number 1.

Why do you think Em's Singles like this were so much more succesful thn 2pac's? remember these type of Songs reflecting on real life issues, personal issues etc are not typical Singles that are usually succesful on the Chart oppossed to Club and Party type tracks with out any Substance but if Em's were so succesful we talking number 1's top 5, top 10 Charting Songs like that why weren't Pac's as succesful?

Eminem's singles were more successful because they're catchier, and more original.

Melody is what cements a song in your head, Em's flows are crafted melodies, and something like "Lose Yourself"... is untouchable. It's a relentless, forward-driving, constant musical flow.

There's many other factors too I'm sure such as Em having more shades to his character (humour, tongue-in-cheek, biting social commentary, provocation) that cuts deeper and reaches wider, despite the seemingly wider reach of 2Pac's more broad subject-matter.

But in a nutshell, Eminem is catchier, the music / songs - are more memorable and enjoyable.

I have to agree with the catchy theory that's the beauty of Eminem's Deep Songs that they have great Lyrics, Substance, powerfull Message and make you think about life but his gift with Melody is what brings a catchy element to his type of Songs like Mockingbird, Lose Yourself, Cleaning Out My Closet. So i would agree that's the main reason they were more succesful than 2pac's Singles which had similar themes, Emotions, personal Lyrics but never had the catchy element or Harmonizing ability that Eminem has.

How can hip-hop be dead if Wu-Tang is forever?
