There seems to be this mentality here where fans just shrug at Eminem's drug addiction. *shrugs*..."oh, he wuz alwayz on drugzzz, wut else iz new?"
This wasn't some "partying" thing, this was a man with enough pills in his system to make an elephant drop dead. It's an absolute miracle that Eminem is still alive. He had an appointment with a fucking grave. And here he is in this interview, completely unaware that he was about to be introduced to Ambien and his life would change forever.
Eminem is basically a dead man who was brought back to life right now. This is really no different than if you were to see a Heath Ledger interview and he said the same thing. The only difference is, Ledger didn't luck out by getting to the hospital 2 hours before he checked out.

Most people who have a drug problem are unaware of it happening to them years before it does. For a lot of people, they have no idea how they got to their addictive state...it almost feels like it happened overnight. Would it be "eerie" for them to talk to a friend or family member years before their drug problem about how they will never be an addict or a junkie? Not really, because most people do not foresee themselves getting to that point.
I would say it's a pretty common thing for people to talk about how they will never let themselves get addicted to anything, but end up getting addicted to some sort of drug, whether it be better or worse than Eminem's problem. Just because Eminem talked about it in an interview doesn't make him some sort of oracle or make it "eerie". You act like Eminem saying what he did is fucking crazy. Many people say the same thing, he is no different.

I didn't say it was fucking crazy, I said it was eerie. I didn't say it was surprising, I said it was eerie. He was sitting there, thinking he could now reflect on the "tough times" that he had made it through with the presence of drugs in his environment...and all hell was about to break loose with drugs and he would have a coffin reserved for himself. If we found a video of Heath Ledger saying it instead, it would be eerie too. Just like it was eerie watching a Jim Henson interview where he was doing the voice of Kermit the Frog and he joked that he had a "human" in his throat, knowing that years later he died from strep throat.
Maybe you just don't understand the word. I think that's most likely the case.

No, I understand it. You're just dick-ridding Eminem too hard and giving him too much credit for a simple comment he made in an interview.
