The Funeral never released and instead Eminem decided to make Curtain Calls: The Hits, since he wasn't sure if he was going to retire. Had The Funeral actually released, it would have been a double disc album divided into three sections of classic hits by each of Em's personas, with a three tracks all named The Funeral rapped by Bizarre, Obie Trice, and Dr. Dre respectively. Once all of Eminem's personas were put to rest, the last track would be a brand new Eminem called Where I'm Standing (In the Game). It would have been interesting to see this put out because I think the last track would have been a shocker full of energy, much like Underground on Relapse. But I'm also glad that it was never released, since Eminem is still free to use any style he wants.
I think the song Beautiful may have been meant for Curtain Calls: The Hits, based on the fact that he says he may be done with rap and needs a new outlet.
As far as King Mathers goes, I think that it was a real album too. If you listen to the song "Pistol Poppin'", you'll hear Ca$his say "King Mathers" in the beginning (what was this song on anyway?). Add to that the statement Eminem made about rejecting a bunch of tracks he did, saying, "Naw, that ain't me." I wonder if the song Keys to the City was a real recorded track.
I'd love to hear anyone else comments and/or theories on any of this.
