Encore was a "continuation of TES" and can keep up at times but definitely reached new lows and this is the album where he started using that accent/voice. He also started making "club songs" around this time. The only problem is, people don't wanna hear fart noises and all that while clubbing.
Although Relapse is a slight upgrade from Encore, when you compare it to SSLP, MMLP, and TES, it is just not up to par imo. There are really no stand out tracks for me. I can get into De Ja Vu, and I gave songs like Hello a few spins but there just isnt that ummph to it.
Songs like Rock Bottom and Sing For the MOment were songs I could really relate to and literally made me throw on a rap record and just sit and vibe. Both as a fan and a lyricist, I gotta say that he can do things with words that NO ONE on this earth can do. Sadly, I think he has lost a step.
I feel like Eminem will never be able to make another record in the same vein as his work from 1998-2003. Unfortunately, I think he is past his prime and is merely a shell of the emcee he once was. He's still my favorite rapper and I will never stop checking for Em but i don't think I will put anymore of his albums on repeat for like a year straight like I have with his previous releases.
Such a damn shame.
I agree. Hello sucked, so did bagpipes, and so much more. Only good songs I liked were My Mom(which got old quick) Deja Vu, and Underground. Eminem has lost his touch, maybe getting completely sober wasn't sucj a good idea. Maybe if He dyed his hair blonde again he would transform back into the old Eminem haha.
Well..... I think we all agree at one point: the 1998-2003 era will never come again, sadly. Too me it was his peak.
I dont like this album most of all because of 2 things: the voice and the way the songs sound (WTF is why the club vibe??!). Lyricly some of the sounds make me remember the old SlimShady, hahahaha that sick and demented bastard!!!
But that fuckin voice.... My ears hurt now listening to that. Ok if he used that in a couple of songs its cool but not at the whole album..... I liked it at We Made You but thats that.
Its better then Encore (Uff...) but not close to his best...... Lyricly yes but the rest its just not good enough.
Still the best things in this album are the skits (how i missed Paul Rosenberg xDDD) that are hilarious, and the way Slim is back finally. Alter-Ego Shady is my favority over Eminem or Marshall sides.
BTW anyone saw 3AM video?? Brilliant!! What yall tought about the video?
