I like the beat except for the drums, the way those two drums closely hit together sounds awkward to me. I know that's the intended effect but, takes away from the beat for me.

He's really a great producer, he's very consistent with his sound. When the beat comes on you can just tell it's his.

I think a lot of it has to do with Dre's influence. You can spot a good Dre beat from a mile off; they sound so simple, yet under the skin they are insanely complex. I was listening to some Mobb Deep today, and noticed similarities in their production to Dre from the time (different sound, but similar composition with simple drum beats and a catchy tune). At the end of the day, any beat that is catchy to the point of simplicity takes me back to pre 2005 days (or perhaps pre Relapse). I think producers really over-complicate things these days.

Most of those beats were actually really sick. Never understood the hate he got for it.
