Relapse was a much better version of what Shady should sound like, H:TS had a couple non-Shady songs like Echo, Lighters and Living Proof.
Unlike Relapse which only had one non-Shady song: Beautiful.

Shady is just anger, rebellion, the dark side, psychosis - whatever a normal person wouldn't normally express in normal society, it's dark Em. And, Em is never just one thing, and he's never been just Shady, in any song. He's always referred to his real life even when apparently being 'fully Shady', it's to different degrees, depending on the song concept, mood and style...

But when he says "of course I'm a one trick pony, cause I'll be screaming on these whores till I'm horse/hoarse" - yeah it's partially for the sake of a pun, but that's also Em totally indulging in joke mysoginy as he has done for years. As, he may have had problems with women in his life, but in reality is a fairly normal guy and doesn't really 'scream at whores', and 'choke bitches' - that's all Shady, it's all totally exaggerated anger and playing off of psychotic, inappropriate humour.

And I know he was using the word 'whores' in a more generic sense also, just meaning, 'anyone who is listening / the rap game' etc. but it still works in that light. I actually find that line funny in a vintage way too, not for the pun, but just for the slight self-deprecation and, turning a negative in to a positive / making it funny. Reminds me of "a lot of people say misogynistic, which is true. I don't deny it - matter of fact, I stand by it ".

Spiteful, sarcastic, hateful Em is definitely him at his best.

Also, in that line, acknowledging the repetitiveness of the women-hate and anger in his music and playing off it, I like when he does that, like in "Cold Wind Blows" when he says "slut this / slut that, learn the words to the song", part of what originally made him funny was the self-analysis, outsmarting any possible criticisms of him and his music by doing it himself, better, and being generally self-aware and self-deprecating. Which is why it's a bit "ehh... " to hear him brag like a regular rapper on some parts of Recovery. He still does it in his own way, and with charisma but, still, would rather he went back to calling himself an asshole more, it's way cooler.

I guess in a way you could consider them Shady songs.

I don't see much of a need to try and separate them...

Em is always dark, funny, angry and rebellious... even in songs to his daughter, Shady is a part of Em, so I would consider basically every Em song, a Shady song.

I'd rather separate the songs by descriptions of concepts and what they mean content-wise, I think trying to constantly define his personas, which is basically just all him constantly mixed and matched depending on what mood he's in etc. isn't really very practical.
