Em could easily sell a million plus on the first week if....

Postby OMEGA » May 14th, '13, 16:28

He drops his album around Black Friday. Think about it; that thing would sell like hot bread, and since I doubt the album will be coming out any time soon, I think is a very likely scenario. The sales of the album would keep momentum even past xmas, and it would be a gargantuan hit for Interscope.

So, yeah, I believe the album might be coming out in November.

Well he could easily do a million, if he dropped like at least two big singles and videos before the album. Don't forget that Not Afraid was the only video/official single released before Recovery.

If LTWYL took off like it did before the release, he would've sold a million.

However I don't know if he'll do it now. But if there's a rapper who could do it now, it's him.

Only better artists like Lil Wayne and Taylor Swift can still sell a milli first week. :shifty:
"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.

call me crazy but I think Drake can do it, I can't see him doing Eminem's sales on the long run but he can definitely do Eminem's first week sales numbers.
He went from 400 K first week with thank me later to + 630 K first week with take care (now 2xplat) and he is now bigger than ever.

Nah; for Em, the element of surprise and BLAM out of nowhere is partially what creates the sales he has over and over again. He intruiges people, then comes out with something sounding totally fresh from before, but just a hint of the album, so people frenzy to check it out...

I don't think two and two big videos would be the way to go for him...

Recovery did like 750k and people had no idea what to expect BUT, many didn't like Relapse and had no idea what Recovery would be like, and presumed it would at least be similar, and it still sold like it did; I know "Not Afraid" gave the sound away, but many people only just got used to the fact he was back, his fans knew but most people had forgot about him being an active presence...

But with the new fans he picked up from Relapse and Recovery (which is more than people would ever imagine)... he has a whole new era on his hands. This one, I reckon, may do or edge a mill.

Taylor swift sold a mill (I realize you said 'rapper'). But you're right, its very unlikely that it will happen anymore. I think the only people that have a chance anymore are big established artist's. such a Eminem, Taylor...ect. I think it's possible but it has to be a monster album.

1. Rap isn't as popular as it once was
2. People steal more music now than they did in Em's selling prime.
3. Why do you all care how much he sells? Does it make the cd sound better? Does it make you feel better knowing someone with more money than they could ever spend have a little more?

I don't care if it sells 12 copies. As long as I get one and it sounds good.

1) Rap is one of the most popular genre right now. It's all you see on TV.
2) That's true.
3) You say that everyone someone mentions sales. Let people discuss what they want to discuss.

I agree that sales aren't important, but it's cool to guess how much he'll sell.. Because he's one of the most popular musician in activity and he can do great numbers.

Yeah, I think you're right.. Maybe that's why he keeps everything so secret, and maybe he was inspired by Justin Timberlake who announced his album one month before releasing it and still sold a million..

We'll see I guess.

All you see on tv? MTV doesn't show music. Neither does vh1, except in the morning.

You can't count bet.

For number 3; I take pride in knowing that the artist I like the most sells huge number's. I like to be able to say he is the highest selling artist ofthe past decade...just another reason to give somebody as to why he is better than everbody else. For me it's quality + number's.
