I don't call MBDTF "the new Thriller" for nothing, I'm a barometer

MBDTF is always going to be higher than any Eminem album on a list like this.

People need to realise that rating both albums within a general sphere of music will exclude most of the rap-game's requirements for an solid rap album. Lyricism, rhyming and flow are all relegated for the sake of 'musical 'sound' and concept. Kanye himself said that it was one of his only albums in which he actually sat and wrote each song because he knew that his career hinged on the album's success. I always find it ironic that, having said this, Kanye's lyrics on the album were still worse than the CD and LR.

I think the MMLP is a better rap album by a country mile, and personally I would place it higher on a broader list like this, however within a wider musical sphere I understand why MBDTF is placed where it is. Listening to it is like going on a beautifully twisted journey. It appeals to multiple audiences, has no filler tracks per se, and clearly sound extremely polished. I think if Em had made the MMLP shorter and (here is that favourite word again) more 'cohesive', we would see the album placed higher on lists like this.

The MMLP's content will always ensure that it never reaches the top-ten placements of lists like this. It is just too controversial, sadly.
"Oh, he'll give us what we need.
It may not be what we want."

I dont understand the hype with mbdtf. There is nothing in the album that blew me away. It does have a bunch of great songs that i pick to listen to. But dont find myself playing the whole album as i cant stand some 'parts' of the album. Instrumentals are the best part. Kanye's personality in the songs is great. The lyrics are average. Overall the album is pretty good. But should not be anywhere near the greatest of all time list lol.

Yeah well calling it the 8th greatest album ever is just fucking absurd.

Any list is arbitrary though.

I don't understand the resentment with MBDTF. People seem to really hate Kanye West... and people seem to really hate Kanye West doing well.
I'm not tryin to be rude, but I sincerely wanna fuck the taste out of your mouth
