That got me surprised when I watched some footage of the Belgium's concert, he is not used to do that
My guess is that this is a measure to help his voice, he can't be fucking it up and it was probrably a tip by a vocal coach or something like that. I also thing he got himself some classes on that matter because his Survival voice is insanely better than Take From Me and Above The Law, for instance

He doesn't use much playback - in terms of playback that does the rapping for him. And if he does he admits it like in the The Way I Am hook.

I checked out several Pukkelpop videos and what I heard was his voice not a playback track.

But it's funny, because when someone uploaded the Anger Management concert from 2003 recently I noticed the same thing. I was at that concert and up until now I was convinced Em mainly used playback. He didn't.

Revolutionary how old are you to think that 40yr olds apparently shouldn't move at all, because they old?!

I agree, I was very disappointed with the play back abuse. He should use only instrumentals, otherwise is not a concert

Dvd live from new york was terrible, he was full of drugs....but He is one of the best performer in the game right now and back in the days (1999-2003), I was at oxegen festival in 2010, and his perfomance was incredible, no playback during the verses, only on some hooks. I dont know about this year...but I notice he use the playback only on very old tracks (Just dont give a fuck etc.) cause he doesnt have that voice anymore.

about the instruments,

luis resto piano>>>>> that guy guitar during some songs

man where is Luis? :(

No rapper can touch him in terms of sounding exactly the same while live
This concert shows that. Without Me live music video is insane, too.
I love how he always took his performances into consideration and had the skill to deliver it with such stage and crowd control while having the vocals sound like the studio version
God, even in the fucked up Live At New York City DVD he is on point

Yes, that was.

Matter of fact, I'd like to suggest that, next time you see me murder the grammar of your beloved language, you try to educate me with your superior english skills and try to point out what I got wrong, and not just complain about it like a douchebag. Then, maybe I don't end up bothering you again with my non native speaker, full-of-mistakes english.

Btw, of course he doesn't sound EXACTLY the same live as in the studio version. He's not a machine playing a recorded clip, for god's sake. I meant that he is (or was, since I was talking about the Anger Management DVD) abble to provide a live version that sounds a lot like the studio one, especially when compared to other rappers.

Live hip hop sucks. I love the genre for the crisp production. The quality of everything going together. Hype men, playback, distorted speakers and all the other crap ruin it. Live music doesn't work well for hip hop. Rock music you get to hear acoustic versions of songs or cool variations of lyrics or solos. Rap is the exact same song, just a shittier version of it.

This is no excuse. Em is in great shape physically, and there's plenty of artists who jump around on stage without having to lip sync.

Are you kidding me? This isn't even one of em's strong points. There's countless artists with clearer cadence than em.

I feel like Em should sometimes do a "When the Music Stops" type performing, where he just stands and spits an entire verse without help from a hype man or anything.

As other posts have pointed out, performers will sometimes need the playback if they're doing a lot of moving around. I think Michael Jackson did similar. But I can really understand why concert goers would be annoyed.

That was fucked up. He says one or two words by himself during his verse.
