Why all the mad love for TES?

Postby RapName » Oct 9th, '09, 12:23

Okay, let me just start by saying that The Eminem Show is awesome. Period.

I know this tittle^^ is some what misleading, because I understand why people love this album, but I can't understand how anyone could ever rate it over Slim Shady LP or The Marshall Mathers LP. I see it on this forum all the time and I have real difficulties figuring out why...

Marshall says it perfectly:

"And call the Slim Shady LP the greatest
The Marshall Mathers was a classic
The Eminem Show was fantastic "

So I'm asking y'all, what is it that makes TES a better album then SSLP and MMLP?
Personally, I think that SSLP and MMLP are a lot better when it comes to lyrics (insane multies, word play and even hardcore punchlines etc).
TES has a more personal feel to it and maybe that's why some people perfers it, but it lacks the crazy lyrics and to some extent the anger we all love to hear.

I don't mean to offend anyone, so take a chill pill :8)

Well, I don't care really what you're like on the inside and I just really want you to come to bed with me. Would you do that if you could? Even if you were just average on the outside (but not fat) I could like you if you sounded smart.

It’s not better then SSLP and MMLP imo. But what I like about the album is that he had so many different types of songs on it. It had a perfect mixture of serious songs and not so serious songs. (Couldn’t think of another word for it lol)

I don't see why other peoples opinions that you dislike are so important to you...

But some people may dislike the accent in SSLP, and like the delivery in TES. Maybe they liked the more polished vocals and beats on TES. Maybe they just started listening to Eminem at TES and some people end up favouriting their first heard album. Maybe they didn't feel the style of songs on SSLP was as good as TES songs.

Just some thoughts :y:

He didn't have an accent, but his voice was kinda nasal...

does it botter you people like it better?

if people like it better then SSLP ... they just like it better. Point final

cd's and music go hand in hand with emotions and periods in life, people maby remember TES with an surtain time in there life, wich they don't have with SSLP, so it makes it better.

i even think Encore is his third best cd after MMLP & Relapse, you don't see me complain people don't like encore more, it's their choice you see.

No offence dude  ... but just stick your SSLP in your player & bump that shit & tell the world it's his best cd!!

PS. bout the EMinem rhyme of 'careful what you wish for'
he also said after a couple years maby 'Encore' is 'Illmatic'... just saying you forgot to mention that piece of rhyme....

I can't either, shouldn't your opinion be the only one that really matters? I guess not :n:

TES is his best album imo because it's complete album, he talks about shit he always does but not too much, he has funny tracks but not annoying tracks, his rhymes are insane, beats are crazy, and this album can be played straight through and enjoyed by everyone, that's why :y:

I don't think it bothers him that people have a difference of opinion--he just wants to be able to understand those opinions better.

However, it does just come down to personal preference. I really like the Eminem show, but The Marshall Mathers LP was my first Eminem CD, and I have the most attachment to it. I think that has alot to do with it, as has been said before. However, I have to say that The Eminem Show was a CD that I might almost like better--it's a very well polished album, and I think, that it was his most evened-out, complete album.

For me, as a whole, TES was the perfect mix of angry/emotional/jokey/psycho out of all his albums..

SSLP was too psycho..

MMLP was too angry..

But TES, you could almost split it in to 4 and all the sections would be covered with out over cooking the issue..

Also as someone already said, the production IMO put it above MMLP and SSLP.
My Top 5 (in no order)-

Eminem
Big l
Biggie Smalls
Royce Da 5'9"
Jigga

The Slim Shady LP was his sharpest lyrically, but on some songs the delivery isn't as great.

On the Marshall Mathers LP, on certain songs the lyrics aren't as sharp, but he had an amazing delivery/voice at that point.

TES is a kind of balance of both. Sing For The Moment is arguably his greatest song ever, but certain songs like Business and Drips were just kind of weak. That was the first time he wasn't all that consistent track for track, but I'd say Sing For The Moment alone tops any song from TMMLP.
