What does Eminem have left to rap about?

Postby viper50 » Jun 21st, '10, 05:32

He's done talking about Kim. He's done with his mom. He's done "recovering". The serial killer/rapist thing is over. He isn't in any beefs. He clearly "gives a fuck" now, so there won't be any SSLP/MMLP stuff. Songs like Drug Ballad or Purple Pills? Forget it.

Most of all, he isn't shocking anymore. He's not controversial. America has generally accepted him as the guy who will be a major dick and get away with it. I doubt he will ever again say something like "Fuck money I don't rap for dead presidents, I'd rather see the President dead, It's never been said but I set precedents."

All I can see him releasing is dope lyrics and punchlines. I think he will go from an amazing songwriter to strictly a lyricist. We will get a bunch of song-length Despicables. I'm afraid Eminem albums as we know them are over :(

Jay-Z has survived so long because he can adapt. He really has made himself "forever young". I honestly can't see Eminem adapting without putting out a bunch of pussy songs. I think Drake's great, but do I want to hear an Eminem version of Fireworks? Hell no. I

Well I thought the same thing, and then 25 to life, almost famous, on fire (which i believe is the first on an album of his like it), space bound, love the way you lie, you're never over (because i thought he would never do a proof tribute track on a solo album)...

so who knows, great topic btw :y:

i'm curious to see what others say

He will probably be influenced by Slaughterhouse, and as you said, use punchlines, wordplay and shit like that.

But he can still try concept songs, I just can't think of what.

He needs to explore new concepts. He should start reading philosophy books and stop rhyming about his dick. :y:

Almost Famous was a great concept/flashback track, possibly my favorite Recovery song. The Proof tribute was part of his recovery, I doubt he'll do it again. Space Bound and Love the Way You Lie border on "pussy" songs, I'm not a big fan of them. They didn't ruin Recovery for me, but an album of them plus strictly lyrical songs? It would be weak.

And he never said he was done with his mom, but he didn't mention her on Recovery and I personally think it's played out.

Who knows though, I have no doubt he can suprise us.

He will create art.

As for saying you won't have songs like X just because he's on this 'recovery' theme right now I don't think is accurate. He constantly (and knowingly) contradicts himself to add to the complexities of his albums and to make people question his intent at all times.

Aside from being a wonderful storyteller he's also sublimely visual, incredibly detailed and insanely vivid. There's no doubt he can conjure up songs for many more years about many interesting ideas, concepts, moods... Whatever. The fact that he's done with personal stuff now is a good thing to me. It means he can focus on just being original now.

Eminem will never release an empty album of just random lines. He crafts albums from start to finish and is involved with everything. He's a true artist.

I guess he can start rapping about his cars, the Detroit Tigers, arcade games and boxing?!

Now, let's be serious. This question was asked when The Eminem Show had dropped. And we got three albums after that. So I wouldn't worry about that! :coffee:

Love songs xD.
"Proof, No matter how much time passes, not a day goes by that I don't think of you. If it weren't for you, I would not be where I am today and we both know it. I tried to write song for you but nothing was good enough, so I'm dedicating them all to you-and you'd be happy to know that I spazzed out on 'em gain!I know you wouldn't have it any other way! Fuck 'em all--let's get 'em!
P.S. I'm sober now, I know you'd be proud. I love you Doody, I'll never forget you. Love, Doody "

For his next album I want him to be serious.
Have a mindset where he can go all out and do a verse like this:

"Im something like a prophet of which whos words will be quoted, one day when im once again noticed, but you all forgot, therefore is oblivious as to the skills that im holdin, a fuckin superstar the world still has yet again to take notice, like volcanic eruptions bitch, expect nothing less than explosions.I could give two shits about some public exposion, cause bitch i have what it takes and I fuckin know that im golden,im back on top no longer a prescription drug overdoser, nope,my mind is clear now that im finally sober, and i did it by myself,no aid for this soldier, thought of therapy, but then i thought again, theres no way in hell that im goin, send me to a to a phsycologist and i swear by god that ill choke him cause bitch im not easily and nor will I ever be broken.nope this is the reinvention of the king,no more relapse for me,im molding myself as to who you people want me to be,to all the shit talkin bloggers ill give you a fuckin reason to tweet, now praise me like a god and get down on your knees."

Think "Love me", "Don't approach me", "One day at a time" etc...
"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.

You can never run out of things to rap about. That's what they said about this album, but he proved otherwise.
He's made it this long in the game, because he is CREATIVE GENIUS. He "hasn't run out of gas , and shows no sign of slowing." :coffee:
