Intro:
He wants this girl very badly. He trusts her, but doesn't want to leave himself vulnerable to being hurt.
"Cause if I get burnt, I'ma show you what its like to hurt
Cause I been treated like dirt before ya
And love is evil
Spell it backwards I'll show ya "
1st Verse:
He talks about his bad past. That is the reason he says he stays alone by his choice. Has no love, shows no emotion. He's tried before with no luck, and it's just as hard as he thought it would be to try again. "It sucks but it's exactly what I thought it would be like tryin' to start over." Then he says he badly wants her. Doesn't necessarily mean he fell in love, it's just that she is amazing to him. Almost like a prize.
2nd Verse:
He explains WHAT HE THOUGHT it would be like with her.
"I'll do whatever it takes, when I'm with you, I get the shakes
My body aches when I ain't with you, I have zero strength
There's no limit on how far I would go, no boundaries, no lengths
Why do we say that until we get that person that we think's
Gonna be that one and then once we get 'em, it's never the same"
(So basically he's saying that you think the first four lines are how you are going to feel with her, but once he got her, it wasn't like that at all. He's not explaining how much he is in love.)
"It's not a contest and I ain't on no conquest for no mate
I wasn't lookin' when I stumbled onto you, musta been fate... let's cut to the chase"
Now that he has her, he is willing to drop his front of showing no emotion. Meaning he is going to show her that he indeed has feelings for her. But is still scared.
3rd Verse:
Now further down the road in the relationship, a long time after he let down his front (dropped the tough guy with no emotion act.) She doesn't want him anymore. He regrets leaving himself vulnerable. "I poured my heart out to you. Let down my guard." He begs her not to leave, she don't listen. He then gets so angry he starts killing her. He stopped before he killed her, "Tears streamed down both of my cheeks, then I let you just go..."
Bridge:
He tells her that he loved her so much before he kills himself. Make her feel sorry.
Its a greatly written love story. Showing how love is evil (evol). In the intro, its almost like telling us what the song is going to be about. Great foreshadowing. It is definitely not about drugs, but if you want to give it a metaphoric under-meaning, how about hip-hop or going back to the spotlight.
Verse 1:
He doesn't show or doesn't admit that he wants/needs it, but he really thinks hip-hop is so amazing and he wants it badly.
Verse 2:
Debating on whether or not to go back to it. He starts by admitting to himself he wants to do it, but he doesn't want to be burned by it again. (Hating the fame, not spending time with his kids, getting addicted to pills, losing Proof...)
Verse 3:
Now he's back in the game and in the spotlight. He feels he isn't wanted or appreciated in the game. (Possibly Relapse period) So he leaves (kills himself)
Tracks 8 - 14: Hip-Hop Story
I think Seduction is Em saying that hip-hop desperately needed him back before he started writing Relapse.
No Love is how Em felt when he first came back when he was writing Relapse. OR talking to other rappers. They showed him no respect while he was gone and not one was wanting him to come back. A lot of trash in the game. Lil Wayne feature makes it more likely this is the message.
Space Bound is the story of him coming back, Relapse being looked at as a failure, and him leaving.
Cinderella Man is his new beginning. How good he feels now.
25 to Life is him saying he is leaving hip-hop because of all the shit it's put him through. Not to stop rapping, but to lose his love for this fictional woman. He's not a slave to the game anymore.
So Bad is him rubbing it in "her" face.
Almost Famous is how he first came in independent. He feels free again. The way he did before he got his foot into the rap game. Somewhere along the line, he became a slave to the game.
