Shady'baby. wrote:Well, Eminem always used to be Huge with every album, people go crazy ever magazine wants him on the cover, famous rappers say hes the best ever, whenever his songs come on people know all the words and sing along and so on, with this album i didint get that feeling, and alot of people that arent Eminem haters dislike this album, i mean we got tons of people here on trshady that dont like the album so that should say something, afterall we are his diehard fans and what not. So in my opinion alot of people didint like this album, and who is there to judge an album than the majority
Well, Eminem was on magazine covers, Relapse was the most anticipated album of 2009 in magazines such as XXL and Vibe. It then fulfilled this prophecy by being the biggest selling.
He did a selected worldwide outing, including the UK. All the songs released were top 40 hits, "We Made You" getting in the top 10 and "Beautiful" getting to #17. The album got a mixed critical reaction but only in the sense critics were split. Not to say most critics thought it was half-okay. In the sense that half thought it was trash and half thought it was genius.
This is less relevant however because nearly every critic who low-rated it had a problem with the visual violence of the album, seemed to ignore the skill and musical aspects and rated it very harshly because it was Eminem. And when I saw BP3 being given 5 stars, it just made me laugh. Relapse had many top reviews from credible sources such as AllMusic, Rolling Stone and others though.
He was also in every imaginable headline of 09 whenever he did a fart or cough. He's also had hip-hop buzzing all of 2009 not just from the album and for its sequel but for manic freestyles and the slaying of rappers on "Forever" and Wayne's "Drop the World".
And as for many people not liking it here on TRShady... So what. As far as I can tell, most people here, despite being Em fans, seem to think it's cool not to like Eminem and do as much as they can to discredit his talent at every turn lmao. So I'd expect it.
I can also find you 10 forums where it's the complete opposite. That doesn't prove anything.
His rhyming is out of this world, his passion is reignited, his ambition is fresh and clear-minded, he's determined to make songs you can play 100 times, is pushing himself to the limits and is putting his all into everything. So no, he hasn't fell-off. Not even close.
He's done the opposite. He's full-circled and he's hungry and when Relapse 2 drops you'll take back every word uttered. I just can't wait for the bomb to drop and when it drops boi it's a problem. Can't wait to see all the detractors eat their words.
