I think saying he's confused or experimenting at the moment is about right. And yeah, the bad reaction to Relapse is unfortunate. Some of the content and the accents were stupid (IMO), but chucking out all the good things about it right along with that is dumb.

And the things that worked about Recovery are the things that are distinctively "Eminem". Not the Lil Wayne punchline business. Still, IMO the album showed interesting developments that are worth pursuing. He just needs to figure out that shouting all the time and making corny jokes is not among them.

Personally, I'll get pissed off if stuff like Roman's Revenge shows up on his albums and starts dominating them. As long as it's bad guest features, I'll just ignore them...
