Why do you want Eminem to revert back to his old self?

It makes sense in a way and it's great to see him evolve as all great artists do, but the whole Jay-Z "If you wan't my old shit buy my old album" is dumb to me. Ok, I will go buy your old album because the quality of the new one is trash. Now Recovery's far from trash but would I rather have an Eminem Show 2? No doubt about it, it was better in quality period. Almost every song from the album was classic. I could listen to 3 albums-worth filled with MMLP/Eminem Show material because of the fact that it's just flat out better than what he's doing now. I trust that his next album will be even better than his last 2 as it seems like he's improving and working with SH but he needs to make his own album with 2 or 3 total features and no poppy beats and i'll be happy.

Why would I lower my expectations? The guy's a legend, so we're supposed to expect mediocrity from here on out? I'm not talking about making the same exact album again but yeah i'd rather hear music that sounds Eminem Show-esque because imo it's his best work. Again I do like Recovery but if I said it was on the same level as his first 3 i'd be lying. With the beats on Recovery no matter what he said it wouldn't have been a classic album, and then having Rihanna who possesses no singing talent? All i'm really asking for is good music.

Eminem has changed a lot and matured, and i believe that now his music is much more serious, more of "Lose Yourself" than "Just Don't Give A Fuck" if you know what i mean. Although I do wish he'd do more controversial shit again, and not team up with retarted rappers like Nikki and TI

Probably because most people who mention the old Eminem also mention the word "album." Back then, Eminem had a great degree of Consistency. The worst track on any of the his first three albums was actually very good. But now, when they listen to the new shit, the consistency is lost. "My Mom" "Crack a Bottle" (or any other combination that is) SOO awful that the "album" is not good. Not the music "the album".

Which, i hate to say, i agree to. Any Eminem fan could easily make 2 albums they love if they mixed up ALL his releases since the comeback but very few can constantly play Recovery without skipping a track.

As far as his new music is concern,i love them and i think Recovery is up there with MMLP and TES.
The only thing i dont like about him now is the way he's open to everybody,and he's too calm for my liking.i know he's 38 and been tru a lot.but i just miss the old eminem,not in terms of music but the way he carries himself.

Hopsin makes his beats using fruity loops and they sound great

OT: his new stuff Isn't as good as his old stuff but you can say that for almost all rappers and Recovery was a dope album I mean 25 to life, Almost Famous, and Going Through Changes are all dope songs
