I didn't diss Recovery.

Did you see me say a single negative thing about the album? No.

I love the album. I simply made the point that it'd be a shame if Recovery won, when The Marshall Mathers LP is his truly masterful accomplishment deserving of it.

:y: But Still . TES is better then MMLP. IT REALLY DESERVED TO WIN ALBUM OF THE YEAR (My Opinion)

So much better then MMLP.

Like I said in the OP, I think The Eminem Show is a better album.

But for Album of the Year - I think more should be taken into account than just the musical quality of the album as... The Grammy's are always implying the album is more than just the best musical creation that year, if they weren't then underground albums or small-scale albums would be taken into serious consideration too.

A great album can also be a great piece of art...

And no album is a greater piece of art than The Marshall Mathers LP from him and it towers well above The Eminem Show in that respect, as an artistic statement, accomplishment and talking point of a single year. So for those reasons I think it's more deserving.

Oh okay :D

MMLP and TES , they both should win album of the year !

No album has been better then them in a decade !

And I don't think it will be a better album.

TES - One of the best albums of all time. IF not THE BEST

Yeah I SAID IT! :D

Recovery does deserve to win though, and I hope it does. He worked hard on the album, and he should be rewarded. TES and MMLP definitely deserve to win the 2000 and 2002 ATOY awards, also

Those should have, but I think with who Recovery is against he has the best chance of the 3 noms to win this year.

I think Jay-Z will win it.

And I don't even think The Blueprint III is that bad, it's actually okay. And I'm not a Jay fan, but that said - It's not even close to Recovery and does not deserve to beat it.

But I think it will. Because of late the entire industry sucks the shit out of Jay-Z's cock, until it's as dry and shrilled as a boiled shrimp.

I don't know, I think it'll be close. It's just, there's nothing significant about BP3, except that it has The Blueprint right beside the 3. Recovery is far more successful than BP3 (I think, not 100% but I'm assuming that it is), so I think Em has a good chance of beating Jay

Plus, it's a better album, to be honest. This has been Em's year, not Jay's, and I think the Grammy's will recognize Em's achievements with Recovery. They can't deny it, Jay himself probably wouldn't deny it either

One thing about award noms, at least to me that always bothered me, is this...and it's a good example:

Recovery and BP3 are nom for Best Rap Album
Recovery for Best Album, BP3 not nominated
...Doesn't this imply that they are already saying Recovery is the better album? Both are rap albums, only one of them was nominated for best album, so how could BP3 then be better than recovery (in terms of rating them for the award), if it wasn't nominated, while Recovery was?

I know this doesn't work for all types of categories, but one example of this I think is best shown for the mtv video awards. When an artist is up for video of the year, say it's Em for example, and he doesn't win the award for best male video...doesn't that fact alone mean Em shouldn't /can't win for best video, if he doesn't have the best male video, how can he have the best video.

That's the best example I can think of for the grammy's stuff I first brought up, I hope my logic makes sense :sweating:

That's a good point.

But, it could just be saying one of them doesn't spill over enough into the other elements required to be an Album of the Year nominee ie. it didn't provoke enough discussion in 'said part of culture' or it didn't succeed here or there but, could still be better in its category, which is rap.

But, many of their 'categories' are questionable in titling and definition anyway. I mean, it's often sometimes even hard to call something X and only X when it also incorporates a lot of elements from Y and Z you know?

Calling a song just a rap song when it's also a rock song, or as much as a rock song as a rap song... and, it all starts to blur sometimes. So trying to categorize things just gets harder and harder and I know one thing, I wouldn't like to fucking do it.

As it would drive me insane with anger. As I like things to have a definable logic to them and categorizing most music or creation like they do just isn't really possible in such a stern, definite way so... it would just drive me fucking insane.

Kinda

I honestly think, and hope, that Recovery will at least get Best Rap Album. If it got Album of the Year, then that would be :worship:
The Grammys LOVE a comeback story like Eminem's

I agree with EminemBase. Recovery is highly OVERRATED. People were so eager to see an eminem album that was somewhat similar to his older albums (TES mostly) and they got the subject matter they wanted and took only that into consideration. I think that people ignore the TERRID production, annoying yelling that eminem will hopefully get rid of, and the extreme mainstream feel to the album. I am a HUGE eminem fan, but as of late i've been rather disappointed with his work... I want him to come back with a crazy (dre produced) album without these bullshit features (wayne rihanna etc). lyrically recovery is nice (right behind TES in third) but the mainstream feel ruined it for me.
if you go platinum it's got nothin to do with luck, it just means that a million people are stupid as fuck.
