I absolutely adore this song. It is perfect, a top 10 track from Em. The intro is fucking brilliant, and when I listened to Recovery when it leaked and started with this, I was fuckin excited. It sounds like the first true successor to The Eminem Show, if you were to play it after that album, it keeps in with the theme. The anger and hatred he shows in this track is reminiscent of the old Em. I'm not obsessed with nostalgia, but for me personally this song is me. I'm probably a bit biased in that respect. The delivery is great, shouty at times but without sounding boring like later songs. The beat's awesome.
Talkin' 2 Myself
I hate this song because of what he says about Wayne and Kanye. I will always hate that he's decided to kiss Wayne's ass (in more than one way). But I could appreciate the song otherwise, I'm not an idiot. It's just..this song just bores me. I dunno why. It's not abysmal, it's just since I listened to it i've barely gone back to it.
On Fire
This is a pretty good song overall. No real reason for it to exist but at least it sounds good, which imo is exactly what his music should be. Rhyming for the fuck of it and sounding good while doing it. Some great rhymes in this, and the beat's sick.
Won't Back Down
Absolutely awful. The beat kicks off and sounds like someone recorded it on a fucking tape recorder. Then Em comes in with his shouting, and I swear down when I listened to this I could barely tell what he was fucking saying. The beat totally overpowers him. When he did it live it sounded better, but most of the lines are still corny as shit. And Pink is just a random insert, it might as well have been Dina Rae or Shara Worden or something, but instead he put Pink on so he could make up bullshit excuses for why she'd be on it.
WTP
Truly the definition of average. Decent song, but bores the shit out of me.
Going Through Changes
It's decent, but with Deja Vu always fresh in my mind this is a subpar attempt at that song. We get it Em, we know about your overdose. You talked about it perfectly in Deja Vu, without sounding too self-pitying. On this though, quite the opposite. It's funny that Stans will argue that the reason people don't like Recovery is cause it's different and Em won't do the same shit over and over, yet this topic has already been covered in half his back catalogue.
Not Afraid
A terrible song. This song is the worst single he's ever released. The beat sounds like absolute shit with those fucking drums that still drive me insane. His lines are so corny it's unbelievable, and honestly the song is pretentious as fuck, trying to act like he's some messiah, you're a fucking multi-millionaire rapper. What kinda inspiration can anyone draw from the story of a man who has skill you can't replicate who overdosed on sleeping pills twice to cope with worldwide superstardom? How many people are in that situation? You had your moments being inspirational with the 8 Mile stuff Em, stick to that.
Seduction
This is a pretty decent song. Boi 1da redeemed himself on here. The concept is actually pretty unique which I like, and his delivery isn't randomly shouting but sounds very taunting and confident, which I like. This is a pretty good song.
No Love
Beat is a pretty genius sample idea. Wayne's verse is shit. Em's is good, but "monopoly board" line is garbage. Flow is unbeatable though. And at least he sounds like he cares in this song and isn't just shouting.
Space Bound
This is where I start to get bored with love songs. This song's too sappy for Eminem (ironic considering what song comes later), and it bores me. The hook sounds like either a masculine-sounding woman or a man who squeezes his balls when he sings to hit high notes. Another one I haven't listened to for ages.
Cinderella Man
This song always seemed random as fuck to me. What's with the fucking title? Cinderella Man? What does that mean? And that drum is so fucking annoying. His lyrics bore the shit out of me on here, and this is the first song on this album which has that bullshit shouty delivery since Won't Back Down. Shit song. What is this song even about? Ask yourself.
25 to Life
Fucking awesome song. Hook is trippy, and his verses can't be faulted. Great delivery, and the concept is unique and the lyrics actually mean something. I often listen to this.
So Bad
Just..out of place. By now Em's starting to act really contradictory about women. Which is cool, but if that's how they make you feel, don't fucking keep writing about them. It's boring and it makes you look like a bipolar nutcase. You go from Cold Wind Blows, this hateful anthem, to Space Bound, this pussy whining, to this, this apparently indifferent womaniser backed to a Dr Dre beat? Aside from that, the song's alright but nout special by any means. Compared to his production on Relapse, Dre fell real short on this shit.
Almost Famous
Another gut-wrenchingly awful guitar beat, like seriously fucking turn it down a bit. Maybe the reason Em keeps screaming is cause he can't hear himself over this shite. I never got why everyone seems to adore this song, it's very mediocre to me. The only way it's impressive is the fact that he's telling a story we already know, his jouney to fame, via the form of awful punchlines. And some of the worst punches reside on this song. Who screams "A TACK!" when they step on one? Why would you randomly say "comeback like nut on your spine"? Yeah Em, so you like wanking on peoples' backs? Nice. It's just randomly inserted, that's the problem. Punchlines work well when they're relevant. Not when you randomly decide to turn a phrase or a word halfway through your line.
Love The Way You Lie
I've said all I can on this song. This is by far the worst song Eminem has ever been involved in, and I would like to strike it from the history books forever if i could. A freakish malformation of false emotion and whining, backed by a video that makes a mockery of the attire Eminem once wore, created only to earn popularity and money, the two things Eminem already has in excess. He needs to be thrown through a window and caused heavy amounts of window pain for making this song.
You're Never Over
This song just irks me, how is this a fitting tribute for your dead best friend? Instead of being heartfelt, he spends the song bragging and shoving those fucking punchlines in the song! This is the song of the whole album where you should be the most sincere, and instead you make it pretty much indistinguishable from the rest of the album with the exception of a cringe-worthy hook which is apparently supposed to show your sincerity because of the fact that you didn't fix your vocals. Uh uh.
Untitled
A decent song to finish off, more of the same really. The beat is nice, and at least for most of this song he's just doing decent rhymes instead of those forced punchlines (though they do remain; bass-turd?), finishing off with a TES reference which ultimately doesn't deserve to be on the album; despite the promising beginning, by the end you know that this album deserves no comparison to The Eminem Show.
Wreck wrote:Why do you hate it? More poppy then his past albums? Don't like the tracks on it period?
I'm just curious. I think it's a great album front to back, and a great artist reinvents themselves, and that's what Em did on this album. 10 albums about raping your mother just gets old.

He changes his style on every album.

Thats true, but never that radically like from Relapse to Recovery.
I bet his next album will be like Recovery, at least the style.
