Wasn't Recovery kind of shocking? Eminem denouncing beefing, giving up drugs, providing a positive message with Not Afraid is kind of shocking, I'd think. Either way, I honestly don't care if he's "shocking" or not. That's not what I look for in a song.

I agree with the OP to an extent, he has rapped about just about everything now, but I don't think dropping the N word would be a good way to entertain/shock us.

Someone on this forum months ago had a really good idea for an Em song (can't remember your username soz), the basics where in every verse he would switch styles from down the years, 1st verse SSLP, 2nd MMLP/TES 3rd Relapse 4th Recovery, and he could reminisce about how the albums where received by fans/critics and what his mind state was behind the style, maybe on his last album

His aim shouldn't be to shock for its own sake. With his first three albums, it was a game, it meant something and... it was worth doing.

And, I don't think he should necessarily drop his character(s) but, that shouldn't be the sole aim at all. He should be focusing on making innovative concepts and song ideas not just saying the most offensive thing he can think up for the sake of it. That's what Bizarre does.

And there's many other things he could do, on an artistic level rather than stooping to using a racial slur lmao. There's infinite concepts you can think up to get under people's skin. I agree that he should be doing that too - getting under people's skin but, 'shock' in itself is pretty paper thin, it needs to be more than that.

Right. But this would re-draw the line he used to have, either you love him or can't fucking stand him with no real in between. I personally just don't think anything else could compare to something like a white guy dropping the most controversial word in the English language on a multi platinum record. It would have people in an uproar and we would be right back where we started with the MMLP release. Whether he still wants/needs this kind of appeal anymore is obviously up for debate and only hearsay on our part.
