^ That

Honestly, the EP is just a bunch of shit they did fucking around, I couldn't care less if it was a whole album of songs like 'Lighters' because even that is a good song.

Let's not talk about the 90% of his works that's raw as fuck, no, let's focus on this one track he decided to do with Bruno Mars (who is actually very good at what he does) and make it much more of a bigger deal that it actually needs to be... And Fast Lane is their lead single from the album, so stop with the whole "It's for the radio" bullshit.

Calm the fuck down, if you don't like the song, skip it, stop fucking shit up for those of us who enjoy it.

What the fuck are you talking about. I'm not so pissed about it, I'm discussing it. This is a forum no? and what is a forum for?... for discussing. If all we did was make posts about shit we liked, and then all agreed with each other on how much we liked X... it'd be a pretty, no... VERY fucking boring place.

Is that what you want? just constant affirmation of your views. Constant agreement, no discussion, no dissection, no disagreement, no analysis, no nothing? grow up. Learn to see conflicting views and not be such a fucking baby about it.

I'll make threads on whatever I like.

Now, as for why it annoys me (to a degree, though, I'm really not losing sleep over it) - it's because Em keeps tarnishing his albums with one or two songs. And, with this EP, to see them get so close to a perfect little EP - not saying it would of been LITERALLY perfect, but 'a' perfect EP for what it is, without that track... it's irritating.

The chorus is cringing. Yes Bruno Mars is good at what 'he does', but not in the context of a fucking Bad Meets Evil EP. And I've yet to see a single review, from a critic OR fan online where somebody doesn't point out how awkward and out of place it sounds.

If you don't find it irritating, just say it doesn't bother you or don't read the thread. Telling me to skip the track?... I do. How about you skip this thread and click back as soon as you see the OP, rather than telling me not to post what I think. How about: get fucked.

PS. Fucking what up? how am I 'fucking it up' for those of you who enjoy it? am I coming to your house with a gun to your head stopping you from listening to it... :confusion: no, I'm discussing why I find it out of place on the EP in a forum thread. So seriously, wtf are you smoking.

I also made this thread due to the fact a friend just told me critics on a radio show were saying Em was a sell-out for the track, and praising Royce. So, I was more-so annoyed at that, the fact it was Royce's idea and construction and then smug radio turds are jumping on the 'Em is a sell-out' bandwagon and praising 'the underground MC'.

If Em and Royce's positions were reversed, they'd be saying the opposite. Even if you kept their discography the same. I just can't stand smarmy know-it-all fucks on radio shows who actually know-nothing and just adhere to popular view all the time.

So that was my main gripe. Fuck face.

Royce ain't getting half the hate Em got when people THOUGHT it was his idea :facepalm2 :coffee:

That being said, Lighters is my 2nd or 3rd favorite on the EP after "Take From Me" and "The Reunion". What you gonna do about it?

'Cause people love to bitch about Em just for the sake of it and they think they're cool 'cause they're not "dickriding" him. This is just one thing to prove it.

This.

He either liked a thing, or hated it.
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

So, because i) it sounded out of place ii) It was "cheesy" and "cliche" (loose translation- not original) its different from the other ones? So, if he makes a WHOLE album which is "cheesy" or "cliche" (Infinite for example) its acceptable? Or, if he creates a song like "Without Me" which, to him at least, sounded out of place on TES its acceptable? Or, if he creates a "dumbed down, cheesy, corny, pop sounding track" like My Name Is its acceptable because it ddnt sound out of place? Just areas i'd need clarification because after reading this...

"We were trying to get some exposure on Detroit radio and Nas and Az were big back then"- describing Infinite.

Eminem on TRSS- "The Label wanted me to make another my name is. I felt the album was COMPLETE when i handed it in but they needed a radio single. I made TWIA and after letting out my anger i created TRSS. It felt cheesy and corny after a few days, the SAME as my name is, and thats when i thought- yeah, thats it. Thats the formula. It needs to feel cheesy and corny." Loose translation from Angry Blonde

On an interview for Without Me- "That song sounds NOTHING like the album. (TES) Just put it out there but if you want to hear what i got that track is nothing like the actual cd." Loose quote from online interview.

"This is NOT hip-hop." -describing We Made You.

"I felt we needed a track for Royce to get exposure and show versatility"

So, again, you said it was "within himself" to make the first singles... besides Not Afraid and Just Lose it, which were an actual reflection of his state of mind, the first singles needed a DIFFERENT approach to music to please people "outside" himself and he actually, borderline at least, despises the tracks. So, how is it more "artistic" to create TRSS than lighters?

I state again, i believe its on the same level of "sell-out" than all the other tracks which is fine with me.
