for things like this, its worth it. It is an often underrated video in my opinion, sure its not a classic in the same way as, say, sing for the moment, bit it is a classic anyway.

Aks Eminem. That statement was me stating what Em said & not really my opinion. I guess Eminem was speaking in relative terms, compared to the other songs in the album.

I can understand how you can think the beat is annoying/repetitive, but the lyricism on that song is pretty close to flawless. The rhyming is awesome. The humor is all very witty, perverse, and spiteful which is classic shady. I even think the hook is good as its a song where he is literally letting everybody know what his name is. A lot of the lyricism on the rest of the SSLP is much the same. The song is nothing short of a nearly perfect introduction to the Slim Shady character. Em probably doesnt like it cause it got overplayed, but that still doesnt take away from how great it is.

I'm not quite sure if I'm an "idiot" because you disagree with the factuality of my statement of just with what I had to say. If its the latter, you're hating on my opinion & that's stupid..

Eminem on "My Name Is" - you can Google it if you want verification or whatever -

And its obvious that it was made to be radio-friendly i.e a "single" type of song & you've agreed to that in the past - [ http://j.mp/qx1LPn ]. Eminem's said "My Name Is was like my introduction to the world. It is the kind of record that promotes the album before it comes out & gets it up to where it needs to be...for me to establish my following throughout the world. The single blew up, people heard it and bought the rest of the album.."

You've also agreed to ***** saying that Em wrote the song in 15 minutes, which is again untrue. Eminem & Dre made 4 tracks in 6 hours the first time in the studio, of which My Name Is was one. He thought of the hook on the spot, but Eminem says in his autobiographical book The Way I Am, that he "stayed up the whole night writing the verses to My Name Is & then came the next day and recorded." So you clearly haven't read that shit or you just like popping your mouth off whenever... & he "propaply" wasn't high also.. the first time he did drugs was the day he recorded "Rock Bottom"...

Not many can fuck me in the Eminem facts & info department...just saying..

So what if it ended up being a hit single? Without that he wouldnt have blown up like he did. And the song wasnt like anything else that was coming out back then so its not like hereally made compromises to make it radio friendly. They just made it catchy with raw lyricism and everyone happened to like it.

And who cares how long it took him to write the verses? That doesnt change the song or make it any less impressive.

Also he did say in Way I Am that the original recording of Rock Bottom was the first time he ever did drugs, but if you look at it closely it also says that the original recording of that song was before he signed to Aftermath or worked with Dre. So the My Name Is recording came after that so he could have been high.
