At least, that's how my perception of it is and with all his albums. Guessing from the cypher, he's reverting back to Shady. Now, if this is true, the next album may be a true return to Shady (Since apparently Relapse doesn't count...) terrorizing the world, and the first single will probably be a jokey track that'll piss everyone off again. This is my thinking.

The Eminem Show was a Marshall Mathers album too, at least for the most part, but it still had Without Me.

Okay, it's flawed, but you know what I mean. :y:

Yeah, I get where you're coming from; at this stage of his career it's just hard for us to determine which way he is going to go with the music on his next solo release.

He's already said he's (probably) not gonna go that way again. And I'm glad.

He peaked the concept with The Eminem Show / "Without Me".

Encore should of been a serious concept album. The concept and artwork are brilliant, if it had been consistent and fully committed, would of been a fitting end to the first half of his career.

Definitely glad he's retired the 'silly singles' now though.

People refer to those goofy singles as his 'funny' work but they're not. They're just a formula that stuck, but they're not genuinely funny. They're just goofy.

Eminem is genuinely funny when he's biting and sarcastic, not childish and spazzy. And I think his humour passes most critics by as I saw one critic say the 'subversive humour' was 'long gone' on Recovery. Which is not true at all... :confusion:

Just on "Cold Wind Blows" for example, when he says "slut this, slut that - learn the words to the song!" - self-deprecation, sarcasm, that line is fucking funny. His REAL wit, is coming back. Proof of that on some BME tracks and the cypher (squeegee line) too.

I hope not anymore, I like his funny songs but I like better when he tells some stories.

If it wasnt for his first ever funny single, Em would not have been accepted as quickly and as widely as he did.

Personally, i think one more classic funny single wouldn't do any harm :y:

Good points, but do you think Em would make a sarcastically funny single like TRSS again? That one had sarcasm and wit all over it.

There's pretty much sarcasm and wit in every song he ever writes though. Those qualities rarely ever escape his lyricism, he's tied to them.

I don't think he'd make another one in that vein again. As in, a cartoony single spoofing people and popular culture in that way. But I'm sure he'll come out with songs with more biting wit in and possibly songs that lean more-so than not toward those areas.

Humor has always been an integral part of his music since the very start, so saying that the single won't be humorous is out of the equation. He will include some funny elements in his songs, that's obvious. But if you say whether that the song will be completely humorous? Then it's a difficult question and can only be answered when we actually listen to it, when it comes out.

At this point we don't know what direction that he heading towards, the "Cypher" does give a hint but at the same time "Throw It Up" confuses the fuck out of us. But what I feel is it's going to be something different.

We also know that probably he is working with DJ Premo, so this collaboration may turn out to be dope and we might get the same "Shock Value" lyrics that he known for, the songs may be straight out serious or mixed.

And we also know that he's working with DMX, and we know how X is.

I know, but who knows what they may plan in the future. I'm wishing that X'll jump on Em's next LP. Hopefully kick Em's ass in gear. Y'know?

I feel that song would be about the hardship's in life, since DMX got out of the prison lately.
