I guess that's true. But Tech has the ability to swap between voices almost instantly. While I think Em couldn't sound like himself from 99 if he tried to currently. I think Em's voice has just changed through the years (as it's supposed to, since he's human), and we have had an album to represent most of the phases so far.

Now, of course he has his obviously deliberate voices (like on Relapse), but he has a limit. I mean listen to him perform his old material now, it's like he's covering someone. I :facepalm whenever he tries performing My Name Is these days.

But I mean, just check out the amount of voices that Tech goes through in like 30 - 60 seconds here

Or the first 30 seconds of this

I just don't see Em ever showing that level of skill :coffee:

This is ONE verse, and it's got around 4-5 voices.
Well tracks themselves don't really count. You can make your voice sound however you want during the creation process. The stage show is where you need to prove that you can actually sound that way naturally.

This question cannot be asked at all. To each his own and asking would only result in a stupid debate.
Some even think Wayne is the greatest rapper ever!

Yep, true. Only reason to properly end an opinion-based debate is to agree to disagree. I wasn't looking for a debate over the "greatest rapper ever" since I didn't post any names and shit.

Wayne used to be good man, I'm listening to The Carter II right now and he could've been a great nominee for GOAT title, thats until he released The Carter III and Rebirth. :zipped:

So true.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

To me, ability is to carve your music from scratch instead of taking a wood and making a statue out of it, deciding which musical elements to put in your track in order to ride it the way you're planning to ride it, and planning everything into perfection while making the content interesting enough to match your dream melody with a premium layer of words, the word "ability" to me is versatility and originality combined.

But the definition of all that shit is different from one person to another, some look at ability as something else, like thinking of unique punchlines and metaphors no one would've thought of, or choosing the right words to describe a situation, or flowing flawlessly while remaining on topic. And people will consider this element more important than the other element. Like Geno he says he thinks voice is an important element. I do think it's important but not as much, and TJ doesn't give a shit about it. No one will be convinced with the opposite of what he believes (unless an insecure hoe of course) so it's never valid tbh. But comparing two different artists based on one element will be a reasonable discussion imo.

but couldn't you debate a number of artist across as much elements as much possible?

Yeah but that would take a lot of time tbh.

True, but time would be required required sense it would be discussing such a heavy topic like, the greatest rapper "ever".

as much as i hate when people rank Em as #1 just because, if Em is below your top 20 you literally don't know anythin about rap technique and music artistry or the harder to define things like emotion, wit, rhythm, etc.

That's one long sentence.

It ain't worthy of it though, cause who ever "wins" you'll still have your own greatest rapper of all time, and people will argue that some elements are too important or not important to be put in the measurement, it won't end m8.

I was assuming all measurements would be equal. But you're right about people not caring. I would just like something to use when people try to call my favorites garbage, especially when some are candidates for the GOAT.

In my opinion, the question should rather be; Would Em be still be considered (one of) the greatest rappers ever, if it wasn't for the 'funny/comedy singles'?

Remeber, these singles played a huge factor to the success of Eminem.

Excluding the important factor, 'success' (which the singles obv played a huge part in). I would still suggest that, rather than degrading his legacy, it enriches it. Not many artists (rap or w/e genre) have the humor/wit like that of Eminem, which, also speaks to so many people. Being a multi-talented artist with a wide range of ingredients in your arsenal, is postive, not negative.

You think BW is a Slim Shady song? Oh hell, Slim Shady hasn't made a true appearence since Devil's Night. Songs like BW are the result of pills and writer's block.
