No one's talking about his "style", they're talking about the quality of his music.

And there is a clear distinction between the music he used to make and the music he currently makes.

Nicely said. Exactly what I was getting at.

So true. As an artist, it must be almost repellent to make music under such high expectations. Which is why I believe he must have a plethora of unreleased music just begging for release (and when I say plethora, I mean a plethora).

It must suck though. I mean, imagine if you were in his shoes, and no matter what you do, the fans are never happy. I'd be pissed and confused.

There is no good or evil. Only power, and those too weak to seek it.

Definitely, I honestly think 98% of the unreleased Relapse-era songs are lyrically monstrous - content may be a different story - but look at songs like "Things Get Worse" and "Oh No"...then we have "Cocaine" and "Fly Away", it's crazy to imagine what he has.

Relapse is back to multi-syllable rhyming on TSSLP IMO but with various flows (what makes it more spectacular).

Kill You wrote:I'll say for the most part I agree with your idea...there IS old vs. new Em though, there is a clear difference in his music from now to back then. But as far as styles, yes I would definitely agree. Relapse and Hell: The Sequel (VERY loosely though) are "Slim Shady" projects while Recovery would be considered an "Eminem" album. Recovery is actually comparable to TES...Idk what it is but I see some similarities. Luckily Recovery has gotten better over time for me so that might be why I'm not finding it similar to TES lol.

Right now, Em has been on his Shady shit. Hasn't really rapped about anything serious in a while aside from Take From Me and Lighters. The Shady 2.0 Cypher is Slim Shady, definitely...he raps slow and clear like he used to do and says some shit he would have said back in 2000.

I actually think it would be better if he just did the Slim Shady Alias on features while from now on until he retires just do his solo Songs and solo Albums as Eminem/Marshall Mathers. I think that is what he actually what he will do i think from now on until he retires The Slim Shady Alias will be very minimal. Which for me is a great thing cos most people love Eminem for his Deep Music and no 1 is close to making the Emotionally driven Music he does.

Debate this all you want, but most fans would agree that his older songs are better overall than his newer material (AKA around the time of Encore, I personally would date it).

While I sorta agree, I don't think you can say they are 'better' I think you'd have to say they are preferred, or more liked.

I agree with you. I'm gonna say I don't like it but not say he's done or something.

^ I'm even more eager to hear some Eminem material over his own beats. Just to know.. to hear, how it sounds like right now. If he can create a new classic..

I really hope the verse(s) he dropped in the new Slaughterhouse album are produced by him.

No, he had enough Relapse material to make 3 albums. I guess he just didn't pick the tracks to make "Relapse 2" and never made a tracklist.

He also said he had enough Recovery material to make 3 albums. Dude must make like a hundred tracks every time he wants to make another album.

I seem to recall him saying in interviews that the album just needed some last minute tweaking before release. I also remember him saying that it was much more personal that the first release.

I think both of these comments open the floor for a LOT of speculation (e.g. one could suggest that Recovery was Relapse 2, although personally I don't believe this)

Either way, does anyone else feel like we're beating a dead horse?
