He won't want to overshadow them as he somewhat did with Obie and D12. Seems like he's fully focused on production and mixing of that album. I don't think we'll get a new album until 2013.

I hate the rap game these days. The only way to achieve commercial success is to get some horrendous pop star on the hook and rap over an even more horrendous beat. This is why Dre can't release Detox; it would flop so unbelievably hard. Even when he gave in and made I Need a Doctor, a song complete with Skylar Grey on the chorus and a beat by Alex da Kid, he didn't do very well. It is simply not possible for Detox to do well and still be a Dre album.

I follow mainstream music a lot, and although my favourite genre is hip hop, you're totally right (apart from saying I Need a Doctor didn't do very well, it did okay tbh). I don't know why people on the first page laughed at you.

Hip hop has been doing AWFUL in commercial success recently. Okay on the albums side of things, but in terms of the actual songs it's been really, really struggling the past few years imo.

The reason for this is because of the dance music takeover. Mainstream radio stations, once upon a time were playing songs like Lose Yourself and In Da Club, but now those same stations are just obsessed with synth/electro/euro/dance songs or whatever. There was a time when hip hop was the most up-beat thing that people heard on the radio, but now dance music is, and the only niche hip hop can find at the moment is with those ballad songs like Airplanes, Lighters, etc.

So a Dr. Dre produced song has absolutely no chance of being a commercial success now imo. If it happens, it'll be a miracle.

And on another note, I don't want Eminem to ever do a song with Lady Gaga.

Why would he do that? That would have been the best thing for dre's career. Eminem and GAGA collabing with Dre would bring him back and we would have Detox.

I definitely wouldn't want to see an Em/Gaga collab. I don't think Em would do that anyways. Like others have already said, he didn't want her on I Need A Doctor.
