What did you think Recovery was like, color-wise?
Recovery feels grey to me... but, it's hard to know if I feel that way about it due to the colours / imagery that Em assigned to it, therefore giving it that association... just like he associated
The Eminem Show with red and
Encore with blue, although again, those colours feel right...
(TES = red hot anger) / (Encore = laid back goofy blue)
I think it's fairly obvious the colours we can associate with sound relates to emotion. The reason I guess I'm feeling black and yellow for his new music is because I think it'll be dark (black) and 'liquidy' (gold / yellow) in its execution aka his flow and the music, just based off his recent styles.
With
Recovery, I think (aside from the cover) that I feel grey because the album almost tries to be everything at once, in a sense with all the colours mixing and resulting in almost a nothingness; a kind of blunt blandness. Which isn't to say I think the material is bland but it's choc-full of compromise and aimed at imagined demographics, and just in Em's delivery and attitude; despite him trying to 'put the emotion' back in his music, he actually sounds almost MORE void of it, almost like a hollow dog barking, it's like a constant crazy echo... and because that's kind of, repetitive and drab... I think of grey. Having said all that,
Recovery is badass and I'ma play it now!
