theories about why Em's sales are low??

Its cool to hate him because he is shit and he thinks he is good and his fans have a notion he is the best alive(If there was an Armageddon maybe)

Eminem has 100`s of class songs to back up anyone who might say he is the best alive or even ever.He has had his rocky moments but the good far outweighs the bad and when he was putting out his worst music its pretty clear his head wasnt on right.He couldnt even finish his sentences at the 106 and park video.Im not makin excuses a bad song goes down as a bad song and it should`nt be released but when your as fucked up as he was i`d cut him some slack.

He was gettin into gear with Relapse last year and it was dope, he is gonna keep getting better.That alchemist freestyle was fire wheter it was written or not is irrelevant.

They're not low.

He sold more than U2 in their opening week and they're huge.

It's May 2009 not 99'.

Carter III sold more in one week because Wayne spent about a year getting on every mixtape and feature in creation. Also the recession was nowhere near as bad back then.

Where as Em didn't release a solo for four years, then suddenly released a few singles and bam.

I've realized something, when the number came : Eminem is now an Icon. Let me explain. Eminem is not what's hot at the moment and probably will never be again, why? Because he became a music Icon, just like U2, Metalica or AC/DC. These groups are very popular, but they are not what's hot at the moment, they now sell records strictly base on their notoriety (sp). Same thing with Em.

Because now a days , the people who buy the albums are : the hard core fans and those who listens to what's hot/to the new sensation.

But not ALL the hardcore fans buy album, cuz Em has probably the biggest fan base ever. I mean, I have a friend who's God is Lil Wayne but ...HE DIDN'T EVEN BUY Carter 3, is reason : "Why would I buy it, it's on the internet for free". So when the hardcore fans don't buy records, you know it's sad.

Now as far Lil Wayne's sell, it just go back to the fact that his fans bought it and those seeking for the new sensation did. Chances are, Wayne will probably never sell 1M first week, because is time will pass just like 50's did.

I guess my only response to this whole topic is that em did sell a lot less than I had predicted, but I'd say wait for next weeks numbers, see if he drops off a lot or stays around that 450-500k sales, I think this week is more important to be honest.

I have to agree with everyone else...sales are not low by any means. Still waiting to hear an exact number but its looking like he moved at least 900K in hard sales alone. Take into account of Itunes sales and yeah he sold a Mil first week. He still holds the record with 1.76M in one week matter of fact. I doubt we will ever see numbers like that again. If your going to blame these "low" sales on any one thing I would put it on piracy. If the number of people who ripped that shit because they just had to buy their pack of cancer over a CD. That is easily the one biggest problem with the music industry right now.

So:
Wayne is/was on almost EVERY hit single in 08, ofcourse he would get ALOT of hype of that
But Em comes outta nowhere, and sells 900k worldwide, pretty good for a guy that has been out of the game for 4-5 years
