Eminem said it himself, that in between The Eminem Show and Encore is when his addiction progressed to a very serious point. While filming 8-Mile and working on The Eminem Show he only had a few hours to sleep every night. That's when he started with the NyQuil, which turned into Ambien, which led to the valium and the vicoden, etc.

Encore is the only album (besides The Re-Up) that was done while he was a full blown junkie pill-addict. The other albums (TSSLP, TMMLP) were when he was an occasional weed or ecstasy user, not an addict of very dangerous addictive substances.

I feel if you're a true fan of Eminem, you should care about his wellbeing just as much as his music.
I don't feel the need to say "no homo" because there's nothing homosexual about having concern for another human being, especially one that you respect, admire, and prompts you to freely admit the considerable impact that has been impressed upon you by his contributions to his respective niche.
It's the right thing to do.

Yeah the only reason Encore turned out so shit was SEVERE drug abuse. When he was using X and weed early in his career that probably helped him with making his songs; and X must have helped him while touring too. But Eminem showed us on "Must Be The Ganja" that he's making music now to get high not taking drugs anymore even weed imo.
