I think it's just about a relationship with a woman.

But because of the metaphorical nature of a lot of the other material, people are thinking it's about drugs / hip-hop. Although, I think Em intended this too.

The 'box' cover for Recovery is basically a metaphor with multiple interpretations and that's pretty much the overtone of the album for me. And that's why that cover is so much more fitting than the 'road to recovery' one. That may be a theme of the album but it's a less important one artistically.

So yeah, I think "Space Bound" is about a woman (non-specific) but with the intentions of being a bit ambiguous. Which pretty much shows Em's growth as an artist. That's what great art should do. It should raise questions and make you think and it should also be open to interpretation. That's why Recovery is certainly among his best in a lot of aspects.

I think its about his "Relationship" with drugs. In the beginning he puts trust into the "woman" and in the end it betrayed him and he cut "her" out of his life or killed "her". He sees the drugs as "Blood suckin’ succubuses", like they seduce a person or choose the person and drain them of everything. When he says "So after a year and six months, it’s no longer me that you want" he refers to the drugs not wanting him anymore after being clean even though he still wants "her". The drugs temp you, take over your life, and then betray you. When he talks about walking down the path all alone, it refers to how he felt during his addiction and how the drugs took over his life. He loves the "woman" but "she" takes over his life and he feels alone and it's a continuous cycle.

i do see that too but wouldnt it be when im not with you i get the shakes because when your not on drugs after being addicted to them you shake and get sick. idk. maybe its about both but hopefully em will tell us on shade 45 july 1st! someone rip that please.
